Jamiroquais bassists....rate them here.

For me it's Zender. I love the others, but Zender has something that really clicks. I think he is more economical in his fills and lines, yet his basslines stand out. They are really the linchpin of the songs, in a way like Flea does. Emergency On Planet Earth and Travelling Without Moving are the definitive Jamiroquai albums for me. The following albums are a bit too disco and overproduced for my taste. The other players groove really hard, but Zender had something extra. Less is more I guess.

I just got a Jamiroquai cd of their hit singles and I was wondering who played on what. Im gonna post the track list and I wonder if anyone can fill me in on who played bass on which track.

Zender. Love the early Jamiroquai stuff.

Same. His phrasing and grooves were inspired stuff -he was an irreplaceable member imho. A lot of his lines often evolved as songs progressed so he'd never repeat the same thing exactly the same way twice. I love this chordal bassline he does on "Space Clav". He experiments with the groove throughout the whole song and throws in some great fills:

I have a theory that he may be working Jamiroquai again in some capacity. Jay Kay has stated that he is going "back to the old school" for his next album since he split with Sony, and Stu has also mentioned that he is preparing to do a "'back to the old school' Jamiro type of collaborative jam session". Not only that, but in a column about Stu being involved in the MTV VMA house band, Rolling Stone referred to him as "Stuart Zender of Jamiroquai".

I don't know about the Jami reunion, but I've also suspected (hoped) that. When we were at a pub in London last year, he said that it wasn't out of the question. He also told me that he was going back to a Jami type sound. He also asked me to send him a few tracks. I emailed him about 8 funk type tracks for some other projects that he has going. I'd love for him to team up with Jason again, then we can finally hear the REAL Synkronized.

They are all great bass players but Stu is definatly my fave. He is busy but he wacks notes in where i dont expect em and gives me the wow factor big time. On the few things I have seen him do without Jamiroquai I havnt found him as exciting as he was with the old Jay Kay crew. I think the early Jamiroquai line up was a match made in heaven.

My vot goes for Stu all the way... the main reason why I play bass... at least, back in those years, his playing was a very good reason to play.

I really like the stuff he's doing right now with Mark Ronson. Using a P bass with an old SVT head... he's on the funk again!!!!

His playing on "stop me" goes back in time to the old motown era... That's even better, just add some Zender spices, and you have a perfect bass line.
