Stuart Zender had one of the most distinct styles in the 90's. His lines have been a big influence on me. I also respect the hell out of Randy Hope Taylor- his technique is really flawless. I admire both.
I do remember seeing Jamiraquoi back in like 1995 (?) on the Return of the Space Cowboy Tour and thinking that Stuart Zender's tone was a little wanky. He was using this weird outboard compressor that he kept fiddling with in between songs.
But hey, the guy was like 20 years old at the time! I'm sure experience has only made him a better musician and seasoned performer.

Well for now it looks like Paul Turner might be out of a job, Jay Kay just quit: Invalid Link Removed

However in his UK Bass Guitar Magazine feature (last edition), he said Jay had some plans (presumably with Jamiroquai) that Paul was in on. I hope he's just taking a break because I've never seen Jamiroquai live, I really want to.

that article is quoting him out of context. on Jamiroquai's myspace he sent out a message saying he's not quitting, he's taking some time off to rebuild his home studio and to record another studio album. he said HE DID NOT QUIT. stupid tabloids.

Yeah..... The Crappest papers in the world thats the British tabloid press....and thats putting it nice!!!!

Man, Jay has been done with Sony so long now....its old.....and signed with Columbia, why didn't NME report that??? I expect that we will see number 8 by the end of the year, on Columbia ....no thanks to the press.

Here's the Proof the "STUPID TABLOIDS" got it wrong and so did a certain music mag....hmmmmmm!!!!:spit:

"OK, so there is a story in today’s Mirror implying Jay is quitting the music business: Needless to say they’ve got it completely wrong! You see, in a quick chat with one of the paper’s journalists following his record breaking Gig in the Sky yesterday, Jay mentioned he was taking time out to update his home studio and take some time off before the band go back in to start writing a new album later in the year. He also talked about working on new arrangements of songs so next time they go out on tour they have fresh take on the tracks they play live perhaps incorporating strings or horns. Perhaps they should listen next time! When they gonna learn? On seeing the way his chat was reported today in the Mirror Jay said “As usual they got it wrong for a cheap headline! All I said was that we’re taking a bit of time out to get the studio refurbished and we’ll be back making music in a few months time. There’s no way I’m quitting the music business - now I am out of my long contract with SonyBMG we have so many options open to us we’re just going to take our time and get it right - its just getting interesting!”
