Janky-A Rigs of Doom

I don't think termites can live long without water. I don't think they live with exposure to air.

I've read that they can also be killed by heat, so I was thinking about bagging up the cabinet (to keep the critters inside) and sticking it in the back of my black van parked in the sun. We haven't got up into the 90's yet, but that's just around the corner. I'm not really sure how hot it gets in there, but I can track it with a meat thermometer.

I found this in a rehearsal space the other day. The funny thing was when you engage the chorus, it also boosts the mids. Pretty decent sound though, but heavy and indestructable.

My latest jank. A kustom IV and a Goliath III with only 2 speakers that match.

Got them for $30 each. Cab had a bad crossover so I ripped it out, previous owner did all the mismatched 4ohm speakers.

The Kustom had some bad sliders in the eq, I reassembled and cleaned them. Only one Chanel is working right now. Anyone know much about these?

I cant find too much info on it. Apparently they came in a tolex case (post tuck and roll Era) and were similar to peavey equipment of the day.

And missing a couple of knobs too!

Should be in the dictionary as a prime example of Janky.

Google gave this link for a schematic: Kustom4_Bass (I have not downloaded it, etc.)

Further down in the thread where that link was posted, these documents were shared:

I don't know anything about that amp except that it looks really really cool. How's it sound?

Thank you! That first document helps a lot. I seem to be having an issue with power Amp 2.

Sounds pretty good, definitely old school, even through modern cabs. Luckily I dig the older sound :)

Hey fellow janky aficionados, please check out my new (to me) janky bass I just acquired. I don't believe we have a janky bass thread anywhere (probably need one) but it does complete the package with my janky combo, so it counts, right? Anyway, working on putting it back together - a full report will follow in my thread for it.

For some unfathomable reason there are NO ugly bass opinions allowed on TB.

There was a 'ugly' amp opinion thread going along nicely and it got shot down because some nitwit posted his ugly bass and it started an avalanche of 'ugly' bass posts.

I dig it, whether you go jank or tricked out. Although I'd vote for option 1) nondescript black rock machine, looks as they are and wired up like a passive P; or 2) have your buddy do an experimental finish and mix hardware plating colors and just get goofy.

I like it. Also, I agree we need some janky bass stuff. Here is mine NBD - Crusty Fernandes content
