Janky-A Rigs of Doom

My old practice rig for my bass/drum duo was:

Bass => Boss DS-1 => Early 70's EMC Gemini PA head of unknown wattage that had a grounding problem and would shock me if I touched anything metal that wasn't a string or knob on my bass, including my pedals. => Peavey 215 (which eventually became covered with mold due to the conditions of the basement we practiced in) with only one speaker (which was already covered with mold).

The evolution of Jank:

1) Sound City 120 Mk4 + Selfmade 212 + 212 Sub:

2) 2 x Selfmade 212:

3) Same (!) cabs, but 15" loaded:

1. janky
(adjective) inferior quality; held in low social regard; old and delapidated; refers almost exclusively to inanimate material objects, not to people
We tried to pick up on these girls waiting for the bus, but I was driving my sister's janky 1989 geo metro so we just got clowned instead.

2. Janky
(adjective)Poorly constructed or of poor quality
This janky shirt she gave me is falling apart.

3. janky
(adjective)used to describe a person, place or thing which is questionable, ****ed up, wrong, strange, broken down, undesirable, and/or just some thing you can't think of another word for. The origin of this work is explained somewhat in the conversation example. Friends and I were sitting around drinking coffee one morning, and I was bitching about my empty cup when my friend blamed the lack of coffee on the "janky ass coffee maker."
Michelle: yo, when's that coffee going to be ready?
Crystal: I don't know. This janky ass coffee maker takes forever.

4. Janky
Poorly constructed or put together, and does not seem like it should function at all, although it may perform beyond expectations.
That entire computer system is janky.

Jankiness is in the eye of the beholder then?

If it makes good bass but you made it out of dumpster parts and painted it with a brush is it janky?

Does mismatched cabs that look ok but sound worse = pure jank?
How about mismatched cabs that sound great?

The "socially undesirable" tag doesn't stick very well either. One TB'er would be tempted to steal your rig out of your car and the next would set it on fire.

Dude, I'd gig that! The logo's are the main jank-factors though. Also replace the widow with an Eminence Kappa Pro 15LF--3x the bass for about the same weight and price.

I should probably remove the Logos, perhaps that way it'll look better.

As for changing the BW, I don't think I need to do that. This rig gives me enough low end, and the combo of those two cabs gives a really nice tone,I dig it a lot. The only complain I have is the weight.

In my first real band(Mid 90's), I definitely had a Janky Rig of Doom! A really old beat up Peavy Musician head and a Custom (home?) made Cab with a blown 16 and concert horn in it. It was so heavy I had to bring a Hand truck with me whenever I play a show. It did it's job though, and put out some really Crusty Crunchy Bass till the AMP Caught Fire! I replaced it with another just like that I picked up a pawn shop for $75 bucks. It eventually caught fire too!
