Janky-A Rigs of Doom

Everything but the 4x10 and the Meat Box got burgled
I loved that 1x18. Sounded great full range, as it probably rolled off right about where I would set HPF/LPF now. I have a 215D these days that's probably at least as good, but I never won't miss my old cab.
don't tell anyone, but a kinda janky rig I've recorded a few times is whatever bass into a Pro, Jr.
works really good for jangly guitar-stuffs

I can see where that might generate a pretty cool DI signal, into an attenuator or something with a line out on it.
a former bandmate used to get really cool recorded J-bass tones through a silverface Deluxe Reverb combo at a real low level...conversational, or just above. Sounded great into a mic.
I am experimenting with recording bass through a little Vox DA5 portable modeling amp, set on the Fender clean amp model. Running DI from its line/headphone output jack sounds pretty cool.
I had a pretty janky rig for several years when i was a teenager. It was an old Crate 4 channel powered mixer that i was a hand me down. I think it was 200 watts. I had 2 Ross 1x15 pa cabinets that I purchased used when I was in high school for 100 bucks. Actually I think I still have this stuff in the basement somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it out for a picture.
Honestly this is pretty far from janky, but it came at the price of that.
But everything you see here is $560.
Ashdown ABM 500 = $10.
EBS CL 410 = $300 (this hurt a little).
Epi T-bird Pro = $250.

Broken but the fix was really easy.

I know this has been brought up before, but maybe the definition of Janky-@ss is variable for some of us.
I was thinking the same thing. Looking back to S.Harrison's introductory post for this thread back on Dec. 18, 2010:
"Alright, I've been viewing all the high-end rigs, the rigs of doom, the mini rigs of doom, the Rigs of the Impending Nuclear Apocolypse, but I haven't had any luck finding budget/basement janky-a$$ rigs of, well, doom. Show me your mis-matched, ugly, inexpensive or oddball rigs, combos etc."
I guess "oddball" can get rigs blending top-shelf gear with gear of lesser pedigree in under the Jank umbrella!
Personally, I love looking at photos of gear, especially when it's an interesting combination. I'm always happy when I get a notification that there's a new post to this thread!!!

So true—what might look janky onstage with Sade's band could look pretty high-end in a dive bar behind a band called Fudge Pump.
