Jason at bassstringsonline.com is the bomb!!!

Any news on when the LaBella White Tapewound 5 string short scale sets are coming?

My Gretsch is still sitting naked on the stand.

Also, have an idea of a 5 string set that will work on the ESP 5-JR. It's 28 1/2" scale, and I know that none of the flat sets work, so I'm willing to go with rounds. Any smoother rounds that give more thump than twang? It's all refinished, put back together and just waiting for new strings.

Thanks, Frank.

Unless I am in a bind and need strings immediately, they all come from Jason.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, because if I'm in a bind and I need strings immediately, I STILL get them from Jason. One of the perks of living in SoCal... Strings arrived the NEXT DAY!

Oh, another BSO story... I pre-ordered the DR White Neons from Jason back in March. Every time there was news about a delay or a new ship date, Jason was on it and sending me emails, and when they finally arrived, they were on MY bass even before my local GC had them in stock!

Sing along with me... "Jason is DA MAN!!!"

Incredible business and person to deal with.
Answered all my questions and gave me personal service that is unmatched.
Up here in canada its a pain to buy flats. 45$ for a set of fender flats :spit:
And also that he is all over this site all the time sharing info with others.

Still waiting on the Short Scale White Nylon Tapes in 5 string.

How long is the distance from Ball End to Tuning Post B-String on the ESP 5-JR?

Awesome glad you are happy!

Oh that reminds me! End of the day yesterday the official Multi Color DR strings came in!

Thank you!!!

Damn, I'll wait til the LaBellas come in.

The ESP 5-JR measures just under 32 1/2" from center of post to ball end of B string.

Let me know what you recommend and I'll log on and place my order. I'd prefer a smoother string with more thump, but realize that there probably aren't that many options so whatever works will be ok.

Well I'll be damned. Here's a "BSO/Jason is the tops" thread I haven't posted in yet. Guess I've been away too long.

Yes, he's an excellent businessman with a superior business model and it's all so simple. Just treat other players like he'd liked to be treated himself. I think there's a Biblical business model just like it known as "The Golden Rule".

So Cheers to Jason and to his success. I'm proud to be a customer of the man who does it right and always will be. And don't forget to remind your six string playing partners they can get the same great prices and service from Guitar Strings Online.

So you can use any 5 string set labeled as Short Scale. La Bella Short Scale Flats, as well as Black Nylon and White Nylon (when the White Nylon get in stock that is) will work.

Light and heavy gauge Black nylon Tapewounds in short scale are in stock. As well as a variety of Short Scale flats and single Short Low-B's.

Thanks. I have a set of the LaBella SS flats and they're too long by 1/2" or so. Second and bigger problem is that the tuners have narrow slots. The strings I have don't fit in the slot except about half way up the leader. Here is a couple of pix showing what I mean.

Is this picture with the string pulled all the way in place?

I think La Bella made this first batch a little too long, but they seem to work with most users.

La Bella recently changed ALL of their Short Scale strings to have thinner diameter tuning post sections (like on Mustang and Hofner basses) for smaller tuning posts like that. I will have them make the next batch of Short Scale Low-B strings like that.

I picked up a 5-String Mikro bass so I can get some measurements (and they are pretty much the same as the ESP bass you have), so I am getting some Round Wound Short Scales made up as well.

And you're telling me this now??? I'm so disappointed.

Just kidding. But of course I did just order a set. These will look great on the Geddy...

Hey now! They came in an hour before we closed on Friday... I wasn't even expecting them till next week!

I started a thread about them:

While I still think there will still be interest in the Multicolor original NEON sets that I put together.
