I have Labella Deep Talkin' Flats on mine, and I agree they complement the instrument perfectly....

ALSO - last night I measured the bridge on my 2000 MIM Jazz, and that on the JTB-401. They're both 5-screw models. As far as I can tell, Turser used an exact clone of the Fender 5-screw bridge. The screw spacing from center to center on the outboard mounting screws is 70mm on both basses, to the best of my ability to measure.

I'm thinking that a BA II or other 5-screw replacement ought to fit perfectly without re-drilling, and the heavier bridge should help to reduce neck dive.

Anyone have an expert opinion on the heaviest 5-screw replacement bridge? I'm looking at BA II and Gotoh, both of which have 5-screw replacement bridges. I don't care about their design, just which one weighs more.

Now I'm GASing for one of these. I'm really a short scale player, and the only full scale bass I have is...a P. So I really don't need one of these. Man, you guys suck.

I just recieved mine- I got a $99 one-one of the last I s'pose- then $130 shipping to me here in Aus. So all up abou $260 AUS. Damn -I can't fault mine ;-) It even arrived IN TUNE!!!!!! :-0 Needs a BIT of set up work. Intonation is a little out- but only a little! as soon as I can work out how to make my pics take up less "bytes" I'll post some pics. Till then- mine's a tobacco burst. Sounds sweet, tho I might try the set of flats I've got on it asap. My flats are the Dean Markley Cryo types- I'm not that impressed w/ them. Anyone care to reccomend a diferent sort of flats for this BARGAIN BASS!!!!! What a great bass for the $$$$!
I also got some Ashtrays for it-a p-up cover & a bridge cover-looks the biz now!!

I'm glad it arrived in good shape for you. Fantastic bass for the money....I use rounds on mine...sorry I can't help you there. I have been thinking seriously about putting bridge and pickup covers on mine...we'll see. Anyway, enjoy your bass and don't forget pictures!!

I had a set of LaBella black nylon strings and I tried them on it, I love the strings but don't like them on the bass. I would like to try metal flats before going back to rounds.

So is B-stock a designation that there's just a little something wrong with it like a high fret or a scratch, or is it a complete dud? The reason I ask is because I bought my Beatle bass copy directly from the Turser site and it was perfect, but I've been seeing these new Tursers on Ebay going for much less than what I paid, and I'm wondering if it's something seriously wrong or something small wrong with them that I'll end up doing to it in 3 months anyway.

+1............as I said I'm TRYING to fault mine. really, I mean for THAT price!!!???? But I haven't found ANYTHING yet. Oh- the tone control works unevenly- rolls off treble real quick!!! WOW...I think I can live w/ that -til/IF I mod it! GREAT BASS for the $$$$$

I believe if they were "B" stocks they would have to disclose that in their auction. The one I recieved has no issues.

The problems tend to be minor, IMHO. Mine had a tiny blemish in the paint next to the neck pocket.

I wasn't trying to start a debate. I'm ordering one through my local shop that mostly sells the strats. He spoke with the people at Turser in front of me and they said they're trying to crack down on the ebay thing.

I agree that if you got a b stock that's working great, by all means you have a great bass and congrats to you...

I was just stating that according to the people at Jay Turser, the ones sold on ebay are b stock...and you shouldn't expect them to around for much longer at that price

Thats cause its prolly made in the same factory that builds the squires for fender in Korea...

There are 3 on eBay right now (relisted) with $130 BIN. At least one of them reached $100 without the reserve being met a few days ago. I'm trying not to buy the sunburst until after the holidays...

I put D'Addario Chromes on mine and so far I like them a lot. I didn't like the LaBella tapewounds, and nickel rounds are almost too bright with this pickup. We'll see. I don't like that the sunburst is a three color burst, it shouldn't have the red, that makes it not look vintage.

When I was changing the stings I noticed how unbelievably cheap the bridge is. The saddles look to be sand-casted instead of machined. I've never seen such cheap construction. I used to have a MIM Jazz bass bridge somewhere around my house that I replaced with a Badass II many years ago, I hope I can find it. Maybe if I put a bridge cover on I won't have to think about it. I just ordered one.

Another follow-up, I played this bass a lot this weekend. All day Saturday practicing for a project I've got coming up with my brother Andrew Hamm in Richmond. Then my band played a gig Saturday night at local dive. This bass sounds positively HUGE in a band situation. Massive. And very good. My only gripe is that it seems to lack dynamics. The pickup is so hot that even when I play lightly I get gigantic volume. I guess I have to get used to it. I love the D'Addario Chromes on it, also.

The only problem is that playing it just makes me want the real thing - a Fender Sting bass - more than I did before.
