That doesn't make it right. Analyzing musical form is a mental excercise that may or may not have value, but if you are going to do it, it has rules. You can't make up your own.

 

The 12-bar blues progression is simply a variation on I-IV-V-I, the most common diatonic progression in all of music.

I'm with the "Blues form is 'A'" crowd on this one.

Regarding "Time Remembered," I think you are off to a good start. What comes next?

Pretty sure this is just another account belonging to the "should I play tambourine" kid.

 

The reward is the knowledge you gain by analyzing the tune. I think that analyzing the rhythm, inside notes, and outside notes is a totally reasonable expectation for a university-level course.

 

I just wanted to chime in and say that I'm upset that I was too late in seeing this thread to make an "ABBA not being blues" joke.
I was beat to the punch and it hurts a little bit.
