Jazz Pickup Broken

I've had this bass for a while now and since having it, the jazz pickup has been broken, could never understand until today when I realized there is only one wire coming from the pickup which is the ground wire. The wire which is meant to be there just isn't there and I'm trying to understand how I can repair it, I've got the tools but I'm not sure where I'm meant to solder it as it is a pickup I haven't seen before.

What’s the wire look like in the control cavity end? I’d guess it’s a shielded cable and the outer shield is the ground and the center conductor is the hot.
The wire is wrapped around a thin red piece of wire tubing. Could that be the other wire? the way it's wrapped it doesn't look like it is a shielded wire and I find this odd considering the neck pickup wires are separated.

Yeah my dumbass thought it was one wire. It was indeed a shielded wire. That was one of the first things I checked aswell but I didn't see it. Thank you for the suggestion
