Sweet!! It would take a huge room and by then I'd wonder how much you're pushing the 712 tops
My research has led me to believe that one of the PRX712 tops, pushed hard, could do 2 (not a typo) of the 718XLFs. So... no problem with one over one.
The show is this Saturday. I can't wait to see what this thing'll actually do.

The 712s to overpower a 718XLF would make ears bleed indoors! Those puppies are loud as hell too!

I've got a long history in Professional Sound Productions and now I wanna be on stage. So... The band needed a new rig. I started doing research and this is where it led me. I want 2 more 712s for a 4 monitor mix and I'll be set for anything around here. Anything bigger and they'll have a sound company providing the BIG RACKS AND STACKS. Lol...

Did you A\B the 712s vs the 715s yourself?
No, I never did really consider the 715s. I knew all along that I'd be adding the subs. Once I did the big A/B/C test on all of those boxes and decided on the 712s, I started looking at subs. The 718s, for the price and specs, were a clear choice for me and our application.
I've seen the 12s over the 18s work so well that it was my goal in the beginning when I first started to spec. this system out.

I may be buying a PA soon and have been looking at a pair of PXR712s with a single Prx715XLF or Prx718XLF. Band may eventually include bass, drums, keys (piano), acoustic guitar, and electric guitar. How would either of these systems stack up with playing classic country in small to medium club (200-300 max)? Small outdoor?

Absolutely gonna work. The 718XLF is only about $100 more than the 715XLF & worth it.

I think one 718xlf matches up with the pair of 712s so well I recommend that. One less sub to load carry & hook up helps!
agreed. Less gear to schlepp is always a good thing. In my case tho, one 718XLF is beyond my weight restrictions
Yeah its not fun but I use a $7 dolly from Harbor freight or a Magna Cart & it works fine. Proper lifting technique. Of all the stuff I carried I hurt my back the most on a 40 lbs GK NEO 115. Didnt bend at the knees. Moved the 80 lbs sub & 90 lb GK NEO 412 with not one incident, go figure!
Proper lifting technique is everything! It's amazing how many peeps totally ignore it. In my case tho, when I was a much much younger man I used to do a lot of competitive training on bicycles and didn't take enough care of my core muscles. Consequently I have a chronic muscle issue in my lower back (I also blew out a disc which fortunately regenerated itself much to my doctor's amazement) and dare not risk another episode 'cause I'll literally spend 96 hours in bed until the inflammation goes down enough so I am able to stand/sit/walk. And I don't have any P.A. roadies to help me load in/out of the vehicle. Hence my choice of 50 pound subs!

Finally got all the PA gear in MY possession to test in my house as the band has yet to properly integrate the sub.
PRX712s with 718XLF sub
So... the PRX712 need to be run at MIC level (White button OUT) to match the Sub input which is always MIC level. Our guitar player had pushed it in so our last gig we couldn't figure out why subs werent working right. Also. The Sub likes to be set around noon while tops at 1st line (33% up?) or so. They like to be fed a healthy signal.
Now that thats squared away, it sounded AWESOME. The High pass filter on the sub REALLY helps the mains focus on its wheelhouse. The tops alone run full range by themselves can handle a LOT of music well. I did NOT like my bass going through the tops full range compared to high passed with the sub... same for the kick drum. ONE PRX718XLF sub can handle outdoor gigs & match the 712 output. A 2nd would be nice to have but is NOT a necessity.
The 712s by themselves played 2 outdoor concerts fantastically by the way. Killer tops. When at GC the 712s KILLED the 715s in clarity. HIGHLY recommend them UNLESS you are running kick & bass through the PA with no sub

How did you determine the 718 input is MIC and not LINE level? when I look at the diagram provided in the JBL manual, there is a +4 noted beside the input.
