Beck was one of the greats, but whether he was the best “at least from the UK” is not something I would presume to judge. Here we can claim not only Jeff Beck, but also Jimmy Page, Gary Moore, John McLaughlin, Dave Gilmour, Steve Howe, Allan Holdsworth, Eric Clapton, Steve Hillage, Tony Iommi…
I've always thought this number kind of exemplifies Jeff Beck's uniqueness as a player. Great band, and great chemistry with Tal Wilkenfeld, which is just palpable (Vinnie, too). Take a bow, Jeff! 
My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of an amazing musician who gave me much joy.

Loved his music and his very unique guitar style.
He's played with some of the best Bassists around and with other great musicians and could easily hold his own with anyone!

Very saddened to learn of this. Saw him twice back in the day. One of the big 3.A guitar player's guitarist.
I just heard the sad news. All time great that I've enjoyed since the beginning of his career. At least I got to see him a few times.

Damn that hurts. The 'Blow by Blow' album changed my life. Jam on with the many other badasses that have come and gone before you.
None of whom were as versatile with their chops. Come on, the guy just died and you're giving us grief for our appreciation of him? STFU.

Lord sometimes I hate what the internet has done to people.
This is heartbreaking. He played and lived in his own idiosyncratic manner, maybe as happy tearing down an engine as tearing down brilliant licks. An artist of high order certainly. After so much living without the drug-addling of his peers, it’s ironic that he should fall so rapidly to meningitis. If memory serves, he and Jimmy Page pretty much grew up together. I’ll be very interested to read Page’s memory of Jeff and his importance.
