jensen mod 32 ohm 10 for svt . opinions needed please !

If you have the expertise required to make the claims you make for these drivers then you obviously have the resources to measure both the cabs and the driver specs.
Anticipated retort: "I don't have to measure them, I know what I hear". :rollno:

Your reading comprehension must be as faulty as your memory. I already posted those frequency response specs here a few years ago and mentioned that in this thread.

OK, searched a bunch, dug around old posts going back as far as '03 and couldn't find it. Doesn't mean it's not here, just don't have all day, not calling BS or anything. Could you throw up a link to where they might be? Numbers are fine, don't need to graph.

A small signal SPL chart doesn't show the displacement limited output that a cab/driver is capable of. Show us the chart and the T/S specs that you measured so that factual conclusions may be drawn.

I used "old SVT speakers" and got 30some threads but no luck. Not sure if this is being derailed or not. The mod50 is a current production speaker so with some specs on the old ones, one could draw some conclusion as to whether or not they'd like it. Of course a few guys with practical experience with them wouldn't hurt either.

Here's the mods http://www.jensentone.com/mod10-50.php

fs 107hz, xmax 1.5mm, not too impressive, shouldn't be too hard to beat that.

If you're looking to replace an SVT speaker, Link Removed is the one to get.

BTW, re: SVT speaker specs. I can't find the old post either. It may have been one of the ones I deleted a few years back. Tell ya'll what: I've been wanting to buy one of those Parts Express impulse measurement tools that puts out pretty graphs, so as soon as I get one, I'll post the results of the old CTS SVT 8x10.

PS: Even though I can't find the one I was looking for, this post at least quotes some of my specs.

ok , let me ask another question then !!! with a 200 watt tube head being used , what 32 ohm speaker would be rec to use in a svt 810 cab for replacement purposes ? oem or something else ?

There aren't that many 32 ohmers to choose from. But if it was me I'd rather the Ampeg/Eminence that will take six times the power before farting out than the Mod 10. You may not need all that capacity with a 200 watt head, but if you change heads down the road you won't have to worry about it. Otherwise the option is to use 8 ohm drivers, eight of which can be wired to 4 ohms. Then the Eminence Alpha 10 would be an option, and it will take four times the power that the Mods will. Best price on those is probably here:

HI

I have SVT CTS (or Eminence?) T-S parameters. Or I belive I have. There was a guy, "BbbyBld" (MI Amp Engineer: Peavey Electronics), on some tread at Talk Bass. He said he can send the parameters he has measured. I asked, an he PM them.

There are values measured from "broken-in vintage speaker" and "ideal factory specs". Interested?
Couldn't hurt, though it would be nice to know which driver it is. Chances are the original CTS is very close to the Jensen P10Q, other than the impedance. The first gen Eminence was a knock-off of the CTS, so it will be in the same ballpark as well. By 1980 everything changes.

I am.

if thats the same Bobby that i knew from the 80s and 90s.. He is one guy that knows his stuff...

didnt the original Voice Coils on SVT speakers have a 2 inch dia. which is larger than those Jensen P10Q listed above? correct me if im wrong

There's virtually no information available about them or their Eminence clones. The ones I played though in the '70s didn't have characteristics any different than other tens at that time. The ones I saw had the same size dust caps and magnets as Jensens.

The same size dust caps doesn't mean it was the same size coil... I have seen some bass speakers that that have a 3 inch voice coil but a 6 inch dust cover.. you know what i mean?
Just wondering since that Jensen model that you posted above showed a picture of the speaker... and then i read the specs and it seamed weird..

Of course, but when the dust cover is an inch diameter the coil can't be two. BTW, the size of the dome has a direct bearing on the high frequency response of the driver. The larger the dome the less high end, and vis-versa, so when the cover is oversized that usually indicates a true low frequency woofer, not an extended range musical instrument driver.

Hmm... what interesting things are being said.

Hey, Jarrod. The guy from Europe that used the Mod's seems to like them, I'd use them if I were you, since you were asking for 1st hand experience. He likes them, you might love them.

There's only one way to find out, and if you don't like them, sell em.

What effect does the material of the dust cap have on tone? I've heard the aluminum dust caps boost treble over the paper or cloth ones but it's been so long since I used one and I didn't know anything about anything back then.

The dust cover material doesn't matter, its mass and stiffness does.
