Here is a photoshop image done by thndrstk6. (he is the photoshop king)
It shows how it will look with the bookmatched flamed maple top, and the other photo shows the back wood I am going to use, flamed walnut...

that's going to be so cool! I hope one day I'll be able to afford one, except it'll be a barcelona for me!
That is going to be a sick instrument. Jerzy is a master and a total professional...Not to mention a helluva nice guy. I can't wait to see it come to life!

I want to add just another little detail. I'm just waiting for the mockup from thndrstk6 to see what the add ons will look like, and make the final decision on it.
I think I am going to get flamed walnut on the back of the headstock. And over the neckthru, on the back as well. So a 3 piece flamed walnut back. The neckthrough will disappear into the body.
I love the build photos I've seen of yours, and a few others. They have given me lots of inspiration and GAS.
I tell you, choosing the woods has to be the hardest part.. there are so many beautiful woods to choose from.
It's got to be the toughest decision to make on this project.
I can imagine selecting the actual blanks is going to be hard too. hahahahahah.

One small build detail that you may want to consider is a matched trussrod cover. Jerzy has been using a nice, but generic (ebony?) cover on all his basses for the last few years, but since it appears that you're going to the trouble and added expense of requesting a matched pickup cover, it might behoove you to go with this little detail as well. I think it makes the headstock look a little more refined:

Jerzy is awesome about meeting deadlines. He quoted me a year for my 6-string, and I got it in 12 months, almost to the exact date.
Debased... On your Legend VI, it does look way better with the matching truss cover.
Carver... things are moving a little slow at the moment, but that's how a custom build goes.
I just decided on the woods, and I still have to select the top blanks. I imagine once that is done, and some neck wood gets glued together, that the pace will quicken. Jerzy still has 8 months to go.
I'm hoping Jerzy will have time to take a few progress pics for us to enjoy.

That Greenburst Jerzy hollowbody 6 string still gives me goose bumps everytime I see it !

I think it's a 28 fret legend from a NAMM show. I have seen photos of it, it's very nice too.
I don't think I've seen even one of Jerzy's basses, that I wouldn't want to own.
On another note..... I just spoke with Jerzy today.... all is good, we may need to substitute flamed maple, stained to match the flamed walnut, for the middle laminate in the neck, as it may be difficult to find a piece of flamed walnut long enough for the middle laminate.

Oddly enough I own an OLP stingray with a really nice flamed maple top! Looks like a million and got it for a song!
But I've been in love with Jerzy's basses ever since I saw a picture of one in one of those "bass annual" magazines! The guy really knows how to get that "stop the show" look into a bass! I probably won't have "spare money" at the level needed to get one any time soon, but we can dream, can't we?
mmmm! Here's mine. I've got a cool idea for another one if I ever get the cash together.

BACKGROUND
I have been dreaming about my perfect bass for years... many years... before I had even heard of Jerzy Drozd Basses.
Then I saw this picture... and I was in love.
I have been in love and GASing for a Jerzy Drozd bass since I first saw one about 6 years ago.
I had a picture in my head of what it had to look like, and the features, but mainly the quality of craftsmanship.
My present bass (made by Peter Elias) is an Elias AP-1.
customized, 5-string fretless, solid padauk, with ebony fingerboard. It is oil finished and fairly dark. I have owned this bass for 27 years.
I love this bass. But I want to expand a bit and get a 6 string. I wanted something similiar in looks and the same kind of hand made craftsmanship. Once I saw Jerzy's work... I knew I found my luthier.
Then it was time to save, plan,and dream.
And after years of dreaming about it... it is close to getting underway. Over the year I will post updates as Jerzy sends me updates and wood pRon.
I started planning and communicating with Jerzy in mid Jan. and put my deposit down middle-ish of Feb.
Jerzy has been busy, and told me it will be about 12 months until completed. (I'm thinking that's pretty damn good cause I had heard a guy could be waiting 2 years on a wait list.)
I got my preliminary drawing for my Excellency VI custom from Jerzy a few days ago.
We have been working out details and getting the spec sheet ready, and we are just about ready to select the body woods and get some sawdust flying.
The features are:
- 35" scale - 6 string
- neck through construction (wenge/maple/wenge)
- fretless (36 fret bodystyle)
- flamed maple top , body - flamed walnut
- matching veneers on back, and front of headstock.
- Black ebony fingerboard
- piezo bridge saddles
- single JeDXS pickup w/flamed maple cover
- Aguilar OPB-3 preamp
- black hardware
- string spacing at bridge - 16mm
- width at nut - 52mm
Preliminary drawing
* the body shape is of the old 36 fret body style but slightly modified, with the upper wing coming off the body a little lower, at the 21st fret. as opposed to the 18th fret. And the horn is a little longer.
Sample photo of top wood. A very pale, white flamed maple. And maybe a bit more subtle figuring... not a 5A figuring, but about a medium AAA
it's a nice mockup! Was it done by thndrstck? It really looks like his work. (nvm, just saw you mentionned him, he really does top quality work).
Anyway, we all know Jerzy is in the same league as Ritter, Fodera and MTD so I'm worried about the quality, tone or beauty of your upcoming bass.
