I'm always up for a Tull thread. Coincidentally I just listened to Songs From the Wood a couple days ago...
This is definitive proof I have mastered the 'Search' function!
As I mentioned above, I saw Tull in the Fall of 1970. I was trying to verify if Glenn Cornick was on that tour, so I emailed him yesterday. Here is the text of the message, slightly edited.
Dear Glenn,
As my memory fades, I ran across your website, and it brought back a few thoughts. I hope you could illuminate me on a few things.
I saw JT on what I believe was the second 1970 US tour. At the time I ...[was]... in Providence RI.
Did you play on this tour? The venue would have been the Veterans Auditorium on North Main Street in Providence Rhode Island.
John Evan was featured at the show as well on piano. It may have been possible the band was beginning to play a few Aqualung songs, though I am not sure.
You may have worn striped spandex style pants ...
The back up band was 'Freedom' I believe, they played a four song opener which finished with a killer cover of 'Dirty Water'. That band had 2 guitar players on stage, 1 had a Gibson Flying V [ Thunderbird ... i forget] and the other had a lefthanded Gibson double neck. If you were there and I have the right tour, this would have stood out.
Or could this have been a 1971 tour with Hammond?
Regards

I received a response this morning!
Here is the text:
November 5 1970 - my last tour with the band! We were already doing 'My God' which would later be on Aqualung. I don't have any specific memories of the gig but that was a great tour.
Nice hearing from you.
Glenn
I am attaching a scan of my diary page from that month
Here is the scanned diary page. He was obviously a lot more organized than many musicians, he still has his tour list from 1970!
Glenn is still my fave Tull bassist
