I’ve wanted to build a drum sander like that for awhile but not been able to find a good resource for the, “How-to” plans if you would PM me some more pic’s and details on how to build one I would be extremely grateful .

On topic. After cutting a scarf joint I glue it up in this thing. It keeps everything in line. The ramp comes off so I can do lams. on it too,(to be scarf jointed, I leave it on if the angle is cut in to the neck) or neck though, center body veneer and so on

Mrarose13! Here's a link to the site I used to build mine. I lost most of the pix I had when my old computer crapped out. (I back up now, LOL). He built a better looking machine than I did anyway.

Lots of good pix on the site. I used Fiberglass resin for the drum as no one in this one horse town had any epoxy and I wanted it done now. Works so far.

Shaping the drum was fun. Used a board across the frame and a chisel, and then finished up with a board and sandpaper.

I got some gold 80 grit stickyback sandpaper from an automotive paint supply place in town. Cost me $50 for a roll, but I use it for all kinds of stuff, like on my radius blocks, so it's well worth it. I added screws with washers to the ends of the paper to hold it down.

Glad I could help. I lucked out and easily found that website I used. Going to build Ledbelli's jig as well. Made some drawings of it last night. After sanding down an Ipe fingerboard for my fretless there has to be a better way.
Besides I like the idea of compound radius.

I love having the drum sander. Makes all the difference in the world. There's no way i could do what I need to do to build basses (and guitars, yes I love to pick 6 strings as well) without something to even things up.

I did, but I was digging around the forum. It’s such a great jig (IMO) that it should be in many places. Props to Ledbelli! I have plans to make mine multi functional so I can rout flat, and precisely create the 2nd angle on my neck thrus and whatever else I can make it do.
