Who offered, the friend or the close family member?Right. As I mentioned in a later post, it's a friend of a close family member. He previously offered to pull some strings if I ever needed it.
You have your own merits to qualify for the job, I think, so if contacting this guy can give you an edge, do it.So here's the situation...
You've interviewed for a job. It goes alright, but it's a competitive thing with a lot of "who knows who" factoring in. There's a chance they mostly had their mind made up before you even got there. After the interview, you're unsure whether or not you're going to get the offer. You know someone very high up (like, really high up) who you can reach out to for help, but that person isn't very popular amongst the people you'd be working with.
Generally, I feel it's totally fine to get a little help from who you know. The concern here is... reaching out to this person sort of goes above your potential future boss's head. May not be the best start to a working relationship. What if you were going to get the job anyway? On the other hand, you may not get it at all.
