I wouldn't be concerned in that way, my only concern might be not being able to get a more J-bass like bridge pickup tone from the bass. Jean may not want that. I'm not sure how this bass is being strung, but for the low strings (C#, F#) the further pickup placement should give a deeper tone.
 
Thats true, I was just curious about the negative side effects on the higher strings from doing that. Part of the reason I went with angled on my Skjold was the high C bridge piece would be right next to the pickup if it were straight and would make my high strings sound more guitarlike for lack of a better term.
