Terrible iPad pic, but I had a few minutes to AB the 2 twins. I am moving things around so there are cables everywhere, so disregard the mess!
My Boss AB-2 ABY box decided to die but I played around a bit and both Moniques sound very similar as would be expected. I find that the dove cage (bought mid last year) was a tiny bit more articulate and slightly more pronounced upper mids than the brand new rack Monique. Might be all in my head though as I only played them for 5 minutes.
I went out and bought a new Radial ABY box and will spend some time with both amps after the hockey game. Go Leafs!

Are the preamp tubes the same? Maybe the age of the tubes?
Monique into Monique?!
Different tubes.
I've been using the Shuguang in the far right, and the Tung Sol in the middle position. You can tell it is the Tung Sol because the base is wrapped with steel tape (finely cross hatched).
Recently I moved to EH 12AU7 tubes for the output driver. That will be a change for you. I had been using JJ's and Shuguangs 12AU7s in this position. Not much difference really but these "feel" best right now, and they are very consistent and reliable.
Still using the EH 6CA4 rectifier. Nice solid tube. I might be happier with an EZ80 instead of the EZ81 (6CA4), but nobody is currently building them. Wont use NOS.
The reason the EZ80 might be good is that the EZ80 is a lighter current rectifier and it might even give us better "feel." Very very subjective, I admit, but one does keep after it. ;-)
I am not a tube roller in any way, but for anyone that cares, here's Jule's response (way over my head) when I asked him a few weeks ago if the incoming rack Monique would sound different than my older dove cage.....
Hey guys, kind of a noobie here when dealing with power amps / preamps as separate pieces of equipment..
What would be the most simple (and/or cheapest) way to be able to use the Monique in a live setting? I really love the look and sound and overall vibe from this thing. I do several gigs where I would just run direct using the Monique and I think it would be unmatched in terms of tone. However, I play out in clubs and such as well, where I would want to use it as more of an amp along with a couple cabs, I just don't really like the idea of hauling around a heavy power amp along with everything else. Are there any alternatives, or is that just the way it is?
plug into the effects return of a micro head.
Any good Class D power amp with an input sensitivity under 1.4v and adequate performance would suit just fine. Or just get the "DeMonique" with built in Demeter power amp...

Are there any De-Monique out in the wild yet?
How do I go about ordering one?
The ordering page on Jule's website isn't there anymore
Will this amp be shipped from Demeter instead of from Jules?
I am also from Canada and Baird's post about this amp going thru Canadian custom is certain a big plus.
WWWWHHHAAAAAATTTTTT YOU GOT YOUR MINNIE BEFORE ME!!!!!!!!?????? Wow I could not be more jealous and frustrated. Looks incredible though I'm sure it sounds magnificent!
