Jule Amps Monique part 4

Maybe it is the changing light of Fall, but I am getting antsy to get out more and just enjoy the music. I spend parts of every day trying to "hear" what each Monique will sound like on stage, which is a very poor substitute.

Last night was something. I had to work until 8pm, and our load in/sound check was at 6.30! Our keys player brought my rig and actually set it up correctly. Even talked the soundman out of a crappy DI box. So, I walked on stage without a check and just started in. They really had the room cooking out front...and the bass was HUGE. Sounded great.

srsly, after playing with the amp a while, my only "wish" is that i could get a bit of grit and sparkle on the high end out of Mo. I've found "that sound" in the Mesa Prodigy clean tones. The Sensitivity cranking drives the mids a bit more than the highs I want. However, I've been able to mimic "that sound" with the DarkGlass B7k, setting it to about a 50/50 blend, a moderate amount of drive (below noon), and the "thin" setting. This keeps the lows from fuzzing out, so they stay nice and tight, but adds just a bit of bright grit.

Overall, I think Mo provides a great foundation for sounds, and great stand-alone sound too. I'm super happy with her.

Tacos Moreno... My wife turned me on to them, Their al pastor is killer. when a burrito oozes orange greese, you know its going to be good. ;-)

I might have to take you up on that offer to come over and play, even though I am sure it will just add fuel to the fire of me doing something drastic to get one.

Al pastor please. It is the secret to success.

I have some surprisingly interesting amp combinations in the shop right now. By all means bring your bass. Bring an amp if you want. We can make all the "music" we want.

Finally, folks in Toronto, The Netherlands, and soon, near London, can walk in and play Monique. All fun. Japan and Germany may be in near future, as long as it continues to be fun for everyone involved. I am too old for work. We all are. ;)

I loved the grit I could get out of my Mesa M9 (had 2) but didn't love the terrible reliability (both died on gigs).

I agree that Monique can't get super grindy. I have tried everything and it just can't be overdriven like a Mesa IME.

In any case, I am using a Darkglass B3K for grit and it just kills with Monique. Great combination IME.

I have no bass GAS anymore and no amp GAS anymore.... So I got bored and started adding effects for the first time since the late 80's.:hiding:

The Diamond Bass Compressor is working great for me for slap and a few other styles, the Tech 21 Bass Chorus Boost is just a great chorus all around and I am having fun with the MXR Octave. If only to drive my guitarists nuts.....:bassist:

Package arrived this morning!!! Didn't even have time to open the box before leaving for work.

Yes I got some tips from basshack on how to get it through earlier, just knowing the process and how it works I was able to ring minutes after the import costs had been raised and pay, rather than waiting for them to call, which I would have done otherwise.

Can't wait to try it. We are planning a Monique demonstration day on ozbassforum for anyone interested.

Ultimate Basses is a dealer and have stock as I recall.

I bought mine direct before Ultimate was a dealer but same price from Ultimate as you would get direct.

You can check mine out if you are ever near Whitby.....

Club Bass has one in as well as a Minnie 800D. They're sitting on top of a Bergantino CN212 at the moment, which is an awesome combination (I use mine with a CN112 often).

I'm pretty excited about the CN212/De-Monique combination. That cab is really something. I actually purchased one of the new sealed NV115's in anticipation of the Monique, but have already turned it. I found I could get much of the 'tight/warm' tone of the NV115 the massively louder/higher sensitivity, slightly larger, lower weight CN212.

Per an email from Jule a week or two ago, I should be about 4 weeks away now, +/-!

A correction if I may, as I understand it to be... I was to have been a dealer with Jule before Club Bass came on board but due to a prior agreement with Demeter as an exclusive to Canada, Jule was obligated to offer the same to Club Bass.

Jule was gracious to send up what I had ordered so that's why we are able to offer the single Dovecage for sale. The Bamboo Monique will be what our customers can audition basses and cabs through. We will also use our Monique on Ultimate Basses Youtube videos for new instruments arriving.

Canadian customers are welcome to shop at Club Bass or order direct through Jule.

Lovely gems they are!
