Im very close to pulling the trigger on a Monigue cage...I also run a TecAmp Puma 900 and M212...Could you give me a quick run down on how you hook yours up?...use just standard instrument cable?

so i've about given up on ever relying on my 15/6 composite build (it has been "out for repair" for almost six months now, with no actual sign of it being sent back - i've brought this up in the greenboy forums already). i'd love to have heard my monique through it, but i'm over it.
now to find a more reliable cab situation for my portable, light-weight needs. my current Mesa PH 115 is a bit chunky for moving, and it looks like i could be gigging again in the near future (though not heavily). my current thoughts are the Baer ML112 (and possibly a pair of them later), or a CN212. i'm currently running Mo through a Crown XLS 1000 with a Nash P and a Nash J bass.
i'm a bit concerned about the 700w mono bridge of the XLS into the ML112. i'm also a bit concerned about the voicing of the ML 112 with the J; i think it might be too much bite. i'm concerned that the CN212 may be just a bit harder for me to move, and a big chunk of change for the initial outlay (though cheaper than two ML112s in the long run)
i'd like to hear some brainstorming from the peanut gallery about what i should expect from each cab and what factors i should consider, but mostly how the voicings compare with Monique.

You're welcome to come check out my Baer with your j-bass. They continue to be my favorite cab.
How do you feel the Baer mid bump aligns with the Mo eq? Is it possible to level and/or scoop the cab?

The specs say it can be used as a stereo amp (0db or .775V), so that is well within the ranges of Monique. Sounds like a flexible tube amp.
Even though the marketing-talk suggests it as a guitar amp alternative, I do see in the comments section from customers that it is best with a preamp. That makes me think it is probably not designed to take an instrument (-26db) in directly, but that is just a guess.

I loaded my PH115 with a HP151020 Fatial Pro and it lightened it up a lot and it has a lower clean bottom with great mids. Just an idea.
Hey Randy. I use mogami instrument cable (I make my own cable). I also use monster cable only because I got it as a gift. Monster is durable but overpriced.
My signal chain is bass, pedals, fdeck hpf series3, into Monique. Line out of Monique into the fx return of the Puma 900. I use canare speaker cable (12 gauge) from my puma into my Baer ML112.
You may find as I do the Puma power section to be a little aggressive, but it works great. I also use Monique with a crest prolite which sounds bigger and better than the puma, but again the puma is more than sufficient. Someday I would love to get a Minnie, but I can't justify dropping that kind of coin on a power amp.
Have you checked out Duke's cabs? I just finished hanging with a couple of friends playing thru jule's wonderful DeMT and a Dove Cage into a Audiokinesis TC 112 v2 and a Hathor 1544. We were playing a variety of Skjold basses and the tone coming through the rigs was spectacular! What a lightweight rig this combination of gear is.
I think they align well. I have no problem taming the mids. I also made the change to nickel strings which helps as well.
Baer is a mid-present cab and Monique isn't really radical/surgical eq so if you want heavy mid scoop you aren't really going to get that but depends on your definition of scoop.
True, but the cab is only going to put out what you give it. Yes the ML is definitely mid forward, no doubt. But Honestly there are many factors involved here. What kind of bass, hand position, power amp, etc.
True Monique is not a surgical eq. But for me I have no problem getting a big, fat, round mid scooped tone using Monique and the ML112. I do this by cutting the mids on Monique and using my thumb by the neck and favor my neck pickup. But as Nostatic said, what may be a big fat scooped sound for me, may not be for you. I also sometimes cut the mids on my bass when I want to achieve this sound.
I'm trying to decide which form-factor to buy.... the DoveCage/Minnie is gob-smackingly gorgeous but less practical vs the De-Monique Rack which is not as aesthetically pleasing but so very practical & roadworthy.
Any owners like to share: what made you decide? are you happy with that choice?

I was contemplating the same thing when purchasing mine. In the end, the sexy factor of the Dove Cage won out! I guess I'm a sucker for sexy, not practicality! I carry my own gear too.
