Jule Amps Monique part 4

wow. just got a nice new lesson on cables. been running my Crown XLS 1000 with a +1-1 cable instead of a bridge mono for +1+2. got my new cable from Bayou today, and that was a game changer. i went from using 215w at 8ohms (mesa PH115) to 700w at 8 ohms. the speaker came to life with the extra juice.

before, i'd been running the power amp on full and controlling the overall volume with the line level control on Mo. now, i've found more life by cranking the line level and using the power amp as a "master volume."

the tone has much more meat and life. the top sparkles a bit more. the attack is more powerful. guess 500w of extra oomph will do that :)

The biggest problem with bridging seems to be people actually getting the proper cord and connections.

No doubt, this totally changes the game. This is were I would wonder if the DeMonique would respond in the same manner?

I'm going to be ordering a Bamboo unit to replace the rackmount in my studio since I am not doing many live gigs. So I will be moving the rack mount when the other comes if anyone is interested. I believe the build time is 4 weeks.

I know there was some discussion about fx pedals earlier. Monique plays extremely well with my pedals as well as when I play keyboard bass.

Jule was gracious to send up what I had ordered so that's why we are able to offer the single Dovecage for sale. The Bamboo Monique will be what our customers can audition basses and cabs through. We will also use our Monique on Ultimate Basses Youtube videos for new instruments arriving.

Canadian customers are welcome to shop at Club Bass or order direct through Jule.

I have a couple questions for you guys. What would be a good price to pay for a used Monique if one could be found? Also can the Minnie 800 be bought separate? I looked at the Jule website, but didn't see the Minnie 800 alone. Thanks.

The Minnie 800 is a Demeter product, and is available on the Demeter website.

My guess is, you'd save a couple hundred bucks if you found a used Monique in perfect shape, given that there aren't many around, and demand would be quite high, since you would save a couple/few months wait time.

Spent a little over an hour today hanging out with Jule and checking out his shop and Monique. Jule is such an open and inviting guy. It was great to see where the magic happens and hang with the magician.
It was pretty cool to be able to get a run down of Monique in person as well. Let me just say this... Monique definitely deserves the hype. There is that fullness that tubes give (not an SVT grind, but a musical quality to the sound) but it doesn't lose quickness. I have messed with quite a few pres and amps and this baby is on the top of my list.
so for all you guys reading this forum, and sitting on the fence about buying one... now is the time to fall off and scoop one of these babies up, knowing you will be getting a quality product and supporting a great guy. I know I soon will.

I'm not sure what's there to do. I've used a variety of 6SL7 tubes, but Monique has its own voice and I don't know that a tube substitution of the right spec is going to change that and I don't know that you're not just going to screw the unit up by being creative with what you put in it.

Monique is a rare thing. So many of the available pres and tube amps go there that it can be difficult to get good clean sound.

Folks here say use pedals.
My experience is that the sensitivity control can be set to give purity at light attack and grind when digging in.
I said it here before but my band mates were looking for pedals when I was alternating between smooth & grit.
