Jule Amps Monique part 5

Were it not for my ear being irreparably spoiled by Moni, I would have been very happy with that amp. BUT, when I went back and forth, I was just still so enamored with Monique and how easy it is to use, and repeatably set up to get "my tone." That warm, tubey, yet bouncy, bubbly and still accurate and fast tone.

It certainly would have been economically more favorable had I liked the Magellan as much or more than Monique. I could have freed up some cash for other band gear. But I just couldn't get there. Oh well.......:bassist:;)

Fast is important when some tube devices can seem or feel slow. That could limit a tube devices use in different musical styles. Monique is fast as well as tone rich.

...And in the studio this week we've been running with a second engineer as our producer/engineer is away. We were doing some backup vocals & percussion tracks. The engineer loaded up a specific roots number and rolled. Then stopped. Turned up the Genelecs in the room and re-cued and played the track louder. Then stopped again. Shook his head, and said Then he said "Holy 5h1t... that bass tone is just so ****in' NASTY...That's awesome...how did you guys get that tone..." This is a guy who works that board and in that studio regularly and has been involved in some great projects there.

The answer was Monique EQ'ed and set up exactly like I use it live with my bass set up exactly like I use it live.

Yep I go in the studio and make no changes to eq from live setup.

So true, "set it, and forget it"...been using my Monique Bamboo at church lately...12:00 eq is perfect!

...on another note, other equipment's primary threads have been consolidated recently (Club Berg, MTD USA, Club Sadowsky) and thread titles slightly adjusted. Would there be interest in a mod request to consolidate this thread's parts (1-5) and adjust the title? If so, what should the title be? If not, carry on...:)

Just kidding. Mostly.
I mean, Moderator Pay here is staggering. I bought a new 125' Oyster Sailboat/Yacht thing with my Christmas bonus, alone? So, doing stuff like changing a thread title, that's probably really worth like a volkswagen or something in terms of luxury value per seconds of time worked. So, no further compensation is rrrrrrriiiilllllly necessary.

But: bourbon.

Had a lot of fun in London several weeks ago at the London Bass Guitar Show with people walking up, smiling, and saying "You? You are the Monique guy?"

I think they expected me to be cuter?

However, I very much appreciated the warm reception. Somehow the word has gotten out. ;)

Much like (as I remember) the software industry, electronic development often falls victim to ego based feature creep. The attraction to add "just one more of my brilliant ideas" is strong.
Only trouble is, every added "bit" also adds latency or at a minimum, phase shift. Everything gets slower.

Simple is good.
