I've been wanting to test out Monique's DI and haven't had any way to do so at home. I've also been looking around for my misplaced Ditto looper pedal. Didn't find the Ditto, but while looking for it I came across this XLR-to-1/8th-inch cable a kid at Radio Shack made for me about ten years back for the purpose of hooking my Shure SM-57 up to a minidisc recorder (remember those?), impedance, sensitivity and other irrelevant nuances be damned.
ANYWAY, as soon as I found that cable I plugged one end into Monique's DI and the other into the combo in/out of my Macbook (really annoys me that they couldn't spring for a separate input and headphone output on a $1K laptop), pulled up a random drum loop in Garage Band, and did this...
I was monitoring through the speakers of the Mac, barely audible over the heater kicking on -- I was also hungry -- so please forgive any sloppy playing and PLEASE forgive me for not tuning my bass beforehand.
EQ on Monique was flat. Sensitivity knob pulled out and set just shy of 11 o'clock. Bass is an EMG-loaded, Fender P/J, with tone controls fully open. Palm-muted riff with drum loop on the bridge pickup, both pickups, then neck pickup. Harmonic noodling sans drum loop on the bridge pickup, both pickups, neck pickup. One sloppy take.
I did not play with the EQ or Sensitivity in the recording or compare it with the DIs of my other amps -- any or all of which could have been informative -- and I hesitate to post it with all the useful and well-thought-out recordings put up so far, but maybe someone aside from me will get something out of it.
Cheers!
