Jule Amps Monique part 5

That kind of thing can be a lot of fun. I’ve had the m700, m2500 and have a Monique with a pre hypex amp, rack mount. And I’ve plugged my dove cage into every amp I’ve owned over the years and every gig with a back line and every rehearsal studio with a mediocre amp.

Really, never disappointed. And on top of it my dovecage goes into a nice pelican case. Especially useful when we found ourselves throwing things in the back of the truck at 11pm on a 35 degree rainy night after a gig.

Interesting experience. Did you find a huge qualitative difference between high end power amps (Hypex) and rehearsal studio mediocre amp? What kind of power amp would you recommand for someone who owns Monique and don't want to spend too much, or is ready to spend more only if it really makes a difference?

I like your Bass lore better.

Seems like something done in that kind of creative Bass environment.

Transformers (all of them) pass Bass more efficiently than they pass high frequency stuff. This is probably why a transformer DI works for us in the Bass world. Probably also why AC 120 volts or AC 230 volts run at either 60hz or 50hz. The reasons for why this happens are kind of fun to ponder, but not here. :)

Wow I am not worthy.
With the dovecage I really love it through the instrument input of an Acoustic image Focus 2RIII. As opposed through the power amp in /effects return. I preferred that to the M700 or M2500. I also really like the early Monique rack which was retro fitted with I think the same power amp Demeter used in the early units (I could be wrong about that). The Berg IP is great and a pair of NV115s are fabulous.

in a back line rig it’s generally more about the cabinets then the amp. Most decent amps you can try the instrument input and power amp in and may find very little or a ton of difference. And you can make it work. But if it’s connected to some big old cab that sounds like garbage it doesn’t help. I’ll generally add. HPF pedal in that case, maybe it will help. But let’s say a common old GK head with an Eden 4x10. The Dover age is great.

Never loved the results with an SVT or V4b. Maybe too much of a good thing with the tube love. Moe sounds so good through studio monitors I really think I prefer that flat response.

LASTLY the Focus 2RIII IMO is the best amp or maybe the best backup amp ever made. Two channels each of which can have reverb, accept a mic via XLR and each input can accept a line level signal through its effects return. So not only is it a great bass amp it’s a great double bass amp. And essentially can also work as a 4 channel mixer with the ability to power to mains with a sub and a monitor. It will also do all of this outside in direct sunlight when it’s 95 degrees out.

I like the idea of a standalone micro bass amp like an Aguilar or Darkglass. That can function on its own in addition to power Monique. I’ve always found I like different amps depending on the cabinet and bass I’m using. So you’ll get no one right answer from me.

For what it's worth, I've played Monique through:
Crest ProLite
Thunderfunk 550B
Thunderfunk 750
Aguilar TH500

I couldn't tell a nickels worth of difference in any of them. I gigged with the Crest before Jule added the power amp section into my Monique. Honestly, I had it updated so my rig would be lighter and one thing less to worry about.
I love my Monique 700!

The most affordable power amp I found that fits perfectly under Monique is the Jad Freer Coda.
I mean, it's exactly the same size as Monique, like Demeter Mini 800D, but it's less expensive. It's not class D, it is a class G power amp.

I haven't tried it, but I have Sisma, which have the same power section and the same size, it fits perfectly.

Man I love the Monique, I’ve had one since maybe 2016 now and it’s just gorgeous.

I also almost always run my sensitivity pulled out and on full… it’s the only way to do it in my book.
