Jule Amps Monique part 5

More the later than the former, I’m not sure what’s wrong with you guys. It’s like that Farrah Fawcett post on the wall, she’s finally knocking on your door and you’re just sitting in your room staring at the poster. Answer the darn door.

it’s not going be bad and if it is everyone is going to want to hear about it anyway.

Opening the door could be fun and entertaining. But reality frequently falls far short of our expectations. The combination may be magic, or it may suck...however since the determination will be mostly subjective, one person may think it's magic while another thinks it sucks.

My point is it won't accurately inform your understanding for someone else to open the door. If you want to know for sure, you have to open the door yourself...but first you have to get your metaphorical "Farrah" to knock.

Well thankfully the Admiral has a 728 and owes me an invite after the holidays. Good, bad or indifferent I’m giving it a shot.

"Answer the darn door!" Classic! That may be sig-worthy. :D

Of course, if Farrah knocks now, we know that the zombie apocalypse is upon us! :wideyed: :nailbiting:

(RIP, Farrah!).

the db728 is fantastic and sublime with the db659.

+ 100 The 659/728 is one of my favorite rigs which does not have the name "Jule" associated with it. I fully expect the Monique into the 728 to be something entirely different, and my expectations are, fantastic!

What micro head do yall think comes close to capturing the Monique vibe? I have a 700 desktop. But it’s my gig amp and sits on a big’ish pelican case. So for something small or a something like a rehearsal, the Tardis 700 usually stays home. I have a TH500 that I used in its place for small stuff and such….but I’m getting the itch it try a new amp. Was wondering what’s out there that can come close to what Jules making……I’m not really looking at Simone. I want a typical 500-700 class d micro that I can get from a box store or website. I’d like the ability to return it if need, and don’t want to wait for something to built. Just want to click, order, and have something show up in a few days. Lol

For the easy carry I use the dovecage and a Berg IP112. My back up micro is an acoustic image focus. Doesn’t sound the same. If I had to buy something new off the shelf it would probably be the Darkglass.

I’m a Mesa Subway guy since I had to sell my Tardis. WD800 personally, but I’ve had all or them.

I think you'd have to pair that micro head (or use your TH) with a tube DI of some sort (Khan VTDI? Jule Simone?) - Scubaduba's thread refers:
https://www.talkbass.com/threads/tu...-15-super-stack-reddi-tonecraft-jule.1469686/

That doesn't help you but Monique into a Quilter BB800 works great, but in the end and since I don't have a dovecage, I just chose to lug my Tardis 700 (with a StudioSlips custom bag).

Wow! That is quite the number of DI samples. Amazing. I am grateful Monique and Simone are included.

As I recall, the first DI was created by a studio person in LA. The lore is that a single transformer was stuck in a box and that box was put in the signal chain. The timing was way back, around when everybody in Credence Clearwater still had hair.

I apologize to that studio person for failing to remember their name; remember that all lore is suspect.

I’ve owned a Monique for years now and last week I pulled out the line input with my 61 P bass and it was absolute heaven. I just turn up the bass a bit, roll back the high end of the amp to tame the crunch and it’s just so sweet. I tried the line out thing years ago and didn’t like it, (probably a different bass). This thing keeps opening up new tone paths for me. What is old is new again:) Thank you Jule.

Thank you. I do appreciate it.

An entire tube section is added when we pull that Line Out toward us. That has to add harmonics and level. Makes sense to me that not everyone will find that their sweet spot. I am glad you found that your P Bass matches up.

The Line Out push/pull feature wasn't in the first few Moniques. At the time, it was added to give us more level for some of the Crowns and Crests. Both required more level (push) than any other amps. That was a different amp world back then. Now we can get 2500 watts from the level coming out of the average pedal.

My aging (usually faulty ) recollection is Motown back in the James Jamerson era.
