Jule Amps Monique part 5

Minnie has got such a cute name, what's the stand alone 700 gonna be called? My pet name for Monique is Bijou, jewel in French. Admitting I have pet names for pieces of my gear might have just reviled more than I should have about how head over heels I am for my rig..... But Bijou 700 is cute. Or maybe a name who numerological value is 7? Seven in another language might be cool. In Hebrew it would be Sheva. I think Sheva sounds kinda cool actually.

That's how you over think stuff folks ;)

Got the surgex power supply today, it works great. Looks good too :) much easier to carry and better looking than the furman I was using, and I feel like the it allows me to turn up a little higher with less noise from the Minnie? I'm no engineer, maybe I'm crazy, but I'm really happy. Now I just need to do something about the terrible color on the walls in the band room...

Hi Jule. Just a thought, but what if the 700 was mounted vertically, behind the Dove Cage with a similar grill-like enclosure? You'd keep the great look of the Cage and get to see the internals of the power amp as well. Enclosing it in with a grill could also increase heat dissipation, no?

The Minnie sounds great but it is very noisy when dimed. Quiet when used as a master with volume on Monique full or close. Not a big deal, bit for a $1000 poweramp, it should be dead quiet IMO.

Some of the noise might be attributed to the module being used - bridging generally increases the noise floor and I believe most of the micros are running the 250 in bridged configuration. The 1000asp I'm playing with is very quiet running wide open - I did notice the noise increase a bit when running into 2 ohms though it was still very quiet.

Posting my DeM Tardis up for sale with custom Mooradian bag. It's in perfect shape. I'm only selling it to get the smaller footprint version. I use a Audiokinesis 1203 cab. The Tardis is just a smidge to wide for that cab. I'm asking what I paid for it and I'll eat the 180.00 cost of the custom bag. Btw the Tardis has the fan. Contact me if your interested.

I have to tell y'all as the first guy with the Monique 700 that it is by far the loudest , Highest headroom, sweetest most badass
amp I have owned. Completely over the top in all areas.......
I am done with amps ( accept for the dovecage version)

Interesting. What did you test it against, how, and where?

I have been chasing amps since the late 70s.....
I have literally owned or tried every boutique manufacturer or bass gear I could get my hands on.
Glock, Demeter, Aguilar, SWR, Genz, ECT. Ect. I have had several systems built custom from hi end P.A. components
with studio front end. Think Telefunken V72 from end with API EQ with time aligned Coax drivers. I have a real problem with gear.
This new amp is what I have wanted all along based on my esthetic as a studio musician who gigs live.
