Jule Amps Monique

Nice!! Glad to see I'm not the only one with no aesthetic sense. ;) You probably play one of them Dingwalls, too... :D

Alright, who's next? Time's a-tickin' on that introductory pricing! (NFI)

Well, my penchant for flashy is well known around here.

It pains me because I DO have aesthetic sense and I love the original design. If it were sitting in my studio, or sitting in my livingroom I would be psyched. And it would fit in with the odd combination of deco, mid-century and a bit of Nouveau that is my living space. The problem is that I gig locally/regionally and it doesn't work with my haul or my stage gear. Yet another strange one-off shape roadcase to fit, etc. So the boring black box is it for me.

In the end, I'm pretty the SOUND will out:

Dingwall Rastaburst Voodoo/Zebra 1->Monique->Peavy IPR3000(bridged) fEARful 15/6+15sub

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, does it? :ninja:

So not going to be standing in front of that rig the first time it fires up.

:D

No, but you might hear it from where you're living. ;)

Lately I've been enjoying teaming up a high voltage tube preamp with a BIG solid state power amp and using REALLY clean speakers. It gives me all that I really like from tubes (the rich harmonic content and character) but not the stuff I don't like. I can keep it clean and clear yet with character and not the power tube compression/breakup.

Dude if my Ladies antique glass collection shatters I'm filing!

Seriously I can appreciate your tone goals, and concur with the methodology, but at 60, and predominately doing studio gigs now, once it goes beyond studio monitors or headphones it is no longer my job in the sound chain. Insert FOH board, Pro-Tools, ADAT, etc. YMMV

Now you need a Lehle to switch between the Kern & Monique.
:hiding:

Awaiting the long range sonic disruption of my future scheduled programming.

Enjoy... as I surmise you will.

Hence the winkie--I think just about everyone would prefer the original designs if lugging Monique around in a separate box, avoiding her stage diving, and keeping beer out of her innards weren't issues.

Well, if it doesn't reach Wisconsin, we'll certainly hear it next door in Beantown. And it will be a beautiful thing.

My setup is not nearly as nice, but it completely outclasses anything I've ever played (and my talent), so I'm calling it good. Monique can be racked with my ShuttleMAX 12.0 either as (1) a replacement for the 12AX7 (Tuner Out -> Monique -> Tube Fx Return) to allow FET, FET + Monique blend, or Monique, each with all the EQ control or (2) as a third preamp option going direct to the power amp (Monique -> Aux In) and from there into some combination of my 2 HT112ERs and HD112 (375 to 975 Genz Watts). Not exactly "the ultimate power in the universe," but perhaps a "It-Can-Hurt-You-Pretty-Badly Star."

Bias?

The only one with bias is my Brubaker NBS Extreme 5.

Pretty sure that the Mother's Day Sticky note reminder's said BAMBOO OR DIE!

Bamboo Rack Mount?

A Bamboo Rackmount to reside with my More-Me headphone Rackmount system would be Heaven on Earth.

Oh, er...I'll just leave this here...

The first production run has been SOLD OUT. The next 10 rack mount Moniques will be available June 15, 2012.

The introductory price shown will apply to the June 15, 2012 production run. This is a direct result of the sell-out of the first (June 1) production run within 5 days.

I panicked when I saw this until I realized the introductory price still applies to the next batch. :D

Wow, 10 in 5 days, eh? That's pretty impressive. Definitely a good call to make a rackmount version. The other versions do look better, but you can't really argue the practicality of a rack version for the touring musician.

They've sold out because Jule has promised to personally lick each and every bright candy colored component of the first 10.

Value added for limited edition taste testing.

What would you guys do? I have an original demeter vtbp-201 dbl i might have to put on the chopping block to fund this. The dem is cool: super crisp clean with limited eq. I like it but dont love it. Otoh the mo sounds exactly like my tonal preferences. Trade one in the hand for two in the bush? :eyebrow::D

Well...Chadds sold his Kern to me to fund his Monique, whichI don't think he had planned on. I'm keeping it, for now. I'm selling my PRS bass, which is one I hadn't planned on selling to fund mine. I had the piece of mind that if I decided I didn't like the Monique you've got 30 days to decide and return. Of course, if you waited after 30 days, I'm guessing with the demand right now you'd still be pretty safe.

I did check with the lovely Ms. Skies to make sure she was cool with me getting something new right now (we're less than 2 months away from a wedding, and all the associated costs for a large reception), with the understanding that I'd be selling other stuff to finance it. It ends up reducing clutter (by removing a bass and hard case), and she knows I like new toys. She's also happy that I'm also selling two other basses (fretless Jazz, fretted Jazz) and a number of other items at the same time.

In my mind, I've been thinking of this being a different tonal color to work with. The Kern is based upon the Fender style front end, and this is more like an Ampeg style front end. Those are the two major colors in the tube amp world for tone shaping. And no matter which ends up being my preference, I don't see any problem with having both available. While I love the Kern dearly, sometimes I wish it had a bit more mid/lowmid punch to it, and I think this might be the thing.

IME/IMHO, one of the really special things which the 201 (and 201s) brings to the table is that gorgeous, shimmery high end. I have not heard highs like that from any other preamp, including Monique. If you are in love with the highs, and like everything else that's going on, you might want to stick with the 201. That being said, in almost every other regard, I personally prefer the excellent range of musical tonal options I get from Monique.

YMMV, of course.
