Close, I believe. I'm not sure that the exterior is the same as the final version but I think the interior is fairly decided upon (remember that even Monique had a few changes after it had been released to the public).

I haven't gotten that far. My pedalboard is pretty full, and in the 'walk in' gig situations it may be an easier solution for me to have a good padded shoulder-bag with the unit when needed. For me it's become a 'how do I have my Monique tone when I can't have my rack with me'. Also, I don't mind have a 'spare' preamp on board while on the road. I have had a tube or two go south over the years and while I do carry a full set of spares in my gig bag, The time to unrack my Monique, dig in and change tubes in a gig situation isn't necessarily tenable.

I'll see what I can do. I should have an IEM board or two in short order that can maybe give an idea or two. I don't have an interface at home but can do some rough stuff next week or so.

As to "sit on," a quick thinker already figured out that the Simone 500 and Simone sit nicely together.

It is important (as with the other amps) that your cabinets can really handle the full 500 watts.

The bypass switch operates a little different than a mute switch. Essentially it allows the signal to pass through Simone unaltered. This will allow you to essentially use it as an effect vs a traditional preamp.

Thank you for all the work you have put into this quest, Allen. You are a busy man. I appreciate your gift to us all.

Yes, when that Drive is turned all the way down, we are in Monique tone-land. As soon as we engage the Drive we are adding gain/girth/distortion/aggressiveness to the tone. Turning off the Boost (the right side foot switch) and/or turning down the Sense(itivity) will reduce that Drive effect.

Note: If the Blue Light is on (right side) you have Boost on. If the Red light is on (left side) you have bypassed Simone and all the knobs are useless.

Simone is different from Monique in that Simone by design has a wider tone palette. The original focus for Monique was to walk into a gig (with the usual 5 minute setup time :-)) set all the knobs straight up and have a great time. Simone kinda has that idea - with the Drive turned off, but as soon as you engage the Drive you open up whole new tone ranges. A whole new world. Do any of you remember "Farscape?"

I can see Simone being tube-rolled quite a bit. Six Phillips screws and the tube cover (the aluminum bit) is off. Tubes (valves) are very easily accessed. Although I have tested primarily with the 6AK5 tubes (valves) I have also been pleased by the commonly available 6J1 and the NOS 5654.

Cool! You know I'm always interested in seeing what the options are.

I'm currently running a set of newer issue Tung Sol Branded tubes in Monique that have done pretty well (Though I keep the originals and my spare kit close at hand). I found a vendor that seems to test and screen pretty well. The good news is that these tube types can be had at fairly reasonable prices.

Between the four rather gummy feet and the resting down on the Handles of the Simone 500, it seems to stay firm. I suspect most will peel off the feet and use velcro.

I never considered this stacked use before it was brought to my attention.
