Ritters are interesting beasts, I can say that much about them. I enjoy the look. Not so sure about the concept. It's like Alembic but more absurd. It's also quite pretty, in a Pam Anderson circa 1998 sort of way.

I actually just got my first real job after the University, so I'm getting a bit ahead of things... but I'd rather have the bass first and then earn the money to pay for it along the way

Seriously, that's probably a bass you'd be able to get your money back out of any time you wanted. Ritter Basses seem to be the basses for people whom money is no object, and now if they want that particular bass, they have to go to you to get it. And you're young, and everyone goes through their first real money really quick (I sure did), so at least you have a lot of time to recover.

neither do i. i can respect the craftsmanship, but it doesn't do anything for me. however, it does for the guy that bought it and that's really all that matters
To me this looks like a birds head ! To bad the poor bird got a piece of wood through his head, made him lose an eye too

I had the pleasure of playing this at last years NAMM show & it is an amazing instrument, not just in looks, but in tone & playability. Congratulations!
The Ritter instruments are gorgeous particularly the Royas! But I just don't like the arts and crafts crackle finish. A transparent color or natural finish is what I like. Probably sounds great but that finish is like sheesh!

I really hate that diamond in there. But I love that finish and that fingerboard, ooh that fingerboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Hmmmm, a few people didn't like it and it probably made a few people angry....so, sure sign of an interesting bass!!! I like the concept, but I'm not sure if my right hand is in love with the complete fingerboard/ramp idea.
Jens Ritter is either a true visionary, a great sculptor, or both.
I love his work, from an artistic perspective alone (I've never played one of his basses).
Congrats Basdyret, you're going to have something to cherish there, once it finally arrives.

BTW, if it's going to be exhibited at these bass guitar shows, does that mean that ohter people will get to put their dirty hands on it, before you do
Nope, it will be on display at the exhibition in Toronto, but I'm pretty sure on one gets to play it...! They'd have to get my permission first, that's for sure
I'm glad to hear that a few of you guys have already shown interest in checking it out in Toronto, I'll be sure to let you know when and where, when I know it myself
The other Roya, which is done in March, will be displayed at Ritter's stand at the Frankfurt Musikmesse. That one will not be played by any one either, he has promised me that
I don't mean disrespect for him, but his business. I don't think it's wise to let people know if I got a good deal (perhaps others would then expect or demand the same in the future) or a bad deal (because then they'd mock me
).Perhaps my opinion is also connected to the fact that we in Northern Europe aren't really accustomed to haggling, etc., so we (both seller and buyer) expect list prices to be followed. When they're not, it shouldn't be revealed to others.
Just a few thoughts, I hadn't actually put much thought into why I had that opinion before...
