Just got a vasectomy...

Had mine done two years ago.

No sedation, just a local, in and out in 10 minutes prep and all.

Not even a cut. They just punch a needle in, pull out the vas with a little hook thing, snip it, braze it with a heat thing, then do the other side through the same tiny hole.

Hole is so tiny they don't even sew it up, just a bandaid.

Mine didn't even hurt at all afterwards, but you MUST take it easy for two or three days or it WILL hurt.

They then told me to come back after a dozen ejaculations (to clean out the system) and have my stuff checked for swimmers. My line? "Only twelve???? What time you want to see me tomorrow, doc?"

Fond memories ......... had mine done with a local anesthetic. Doc and I were chatting as he did the work and at one point I heard a hemostat ratcheting down and felt a little tug. So I says "Oh .. I felt that !" Doc sez "If you would have felt that you would be swinging at me right now !"
Never laughed more while at the doctor ..

Got mine a few years back. Local anesthetic with a couple valiums beforehand. Doc was working on one side and had a bit of a problem so he went after the other side and came back to the first. Not fun but I guess it wasn't too bad overall. (the valium helped)

DO NOT SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR FEET AFTERWARDS FOR A FEW DAYS! ! !

I went to work for a few hours about a day later and my package was swollen up like a freakin' grapefruit. Let me tell you...putting an ice pack on a part of my body never felt so good!

And be sure you get checked out afterwards to make sure you're shooting nothing but blanks. Friend of mine learned that the hard way and now he's supporting another child.

I know it sounds really nasty to those who haven't had it done (a knife down there!) but I highly recommend it to anyone that's thinking about it. The benefits can be very rewarding when you don't have to worry about birth control...if you know what I mean.

The discomfort isn't the worst of it actually.... It's watching your little buddies turn every shade of black, purple, green and brown over the following week until the bruising subsides....

... still, would do it all over again. Definitely worth it.

Just an FYI - It's about 100000 times safer for a man to get snipped than for a woman to have a hysterectomy.. let's see a couple days of discomfort vs. my wife might die.. hmmm

For those who are thinking about it, make sure you piss real good before going on the table LMAO ... When I got mine done the guy ahead of me was apparently to nervous to use the bathroom ahead of time. The nurse told me that when she administered the local he pissed all over the table, himself, and the nurse LOL ... she made me walk to the bathroom and waited outside just make sure I wasnt going to do that to her also.

I was awake for mine. The doc put on a Muddy Waters CD for me.

The advice above is solid. Take advantage of being a lazy bum for a few days. Catch up on some movies or DVR material. Bag o Frozen Peas is good. Vicodin is a bonus.

Well, I wasn't happy about it but it had to be done. The procedure wasn't that bad, but now I feel like I got kicked in the nuts....again....and again...and again....

I did the same thing (a long time ago). I learned this: Don't ever let anybody cut your balls open. I kind of already knew that, but.....

I was scheduled for one today, but I chickened out. My girlfriend really has me thinking about children. I never wanted any kids until I scheduled the appointment, now I keep having second thoughts.

Has anybody without children had one? How do you feel about it now? I am 38 years old and still haven't made my mind up about children.

So what made you get one? And out of curiosity, did you freeze some sperm before you did it?

Well, we have 2 kids and we agreed that's enough. Plus, like others have said in this post, no more jimmy hats!! I didn't freeze sperm, but if I really wanted to have a reversal it could be done with what they said would be up to a 75% success rate. Although, sometimes the tubes find each other down there and reconnect themselves! That would be a big whoops.

The ice pack definitely is a new friend of mine....Vicodin is a great bonus too. Doesn't feel too good to move much right now so I'm just taking it easy.

The doc had to stitch me up in one spot because a blood vessel popped or something so that is giving me some pain. Besides all of that crap I'm glad I did it.

Though rare, that does happen. Thus one of the other reasons I opted to be put under. The Doc took his time, cut a huge section out of each vas, burned, fold and banded and then sewed the ends up into seperate secondary membranes so that could never ever happen.
