That would be your opinion - I happen to disagree, and will state my case:
The PH215 is arguably one of the best 215s on the market - and I can tell you from experience that it can't hang with the PH810 it's next to... In fact, other than a 1515/66, there isn't a 215 on the market that can hang with the PH810...

Agreed that there very likely isn't a commercially available 215 anywhere that can outdo the PH810.
But yes, a 1515/66 will leave the PH810 in the dust. And a straight 215 w/3015s or 15PR400s, or especially one w/a quality super tweeter (like the Selenium D220Ti) & horn would very likely outperform the PH810, too.
Do you know which drivers are used in the PH810? Does someone else know? Surely someone does. What's their Xmax & sensitivity/efficiency?
Yeah, me too (& I'll add an LDS). My money would be on the 3015/15PR400-equipped boxes.
I've peeked inside, and the drivers have Mesa markings on them - more than likely, made by Eminence to Mesa's specs... Regarding the actual performance specs of the drivers themselves, I doubt that info is available...

I think 15's have a place and I enjoy the tone of a 15 though I also use 210 cabs.
I like 15's enough that I just pre-ordered one of the new Fender Bassman Pro neo 15in cabs. Now the wait.........

That's 4 times the drives of the same series and 176lbs though.
When weight and cone area come into play, a more appropriate comparison would be an 810 vs 2 215's.
A shootout between the PH215 and a comparable 610 would be interesting.
I don't think anyone is trying to discredit an 810, or any others speaker, just state that driver for driver, 15's are hard to beat. Its hard to beat what Rules
BTW, I was recently given a pretty nice 410 by my girlfriend's Father. As much as I love 15's, Im gonna use it until the 215 15FX560 project is finished.

.Where is this 215 in the build process? Is the box going to use the two 15FX560s only?
Just 2 things on paper that look slightly less than optimum (& even w/these, sure it'll still be an absolute monster w/near-3015LF displacement
& enough range to be used w/no mid/tweeter);1st of course is the weight, ~16 1/2 lbs. But even with this, you'll probably have a ~75-80 lb. cabinet? Very manageable.
2nd is that although it says the top of its range is 4kHz, the graph looks like it's probably more like 3kHz.

I almost pulled the trigger on a popular DIY build before reading that thread and looking in to the Faital Pro drivers.
On paper, its the best of both worlds, but the greatly increased Xlim and higher thermal rating hooked me. That, along with being able to get away with one speaker just seems like the direction to go.

I prefer using an 8x10, I feel I've got a more balanced tone with those but I've used a 15s in the past and sounded OK too... It's really a question of personal taste.

Not the point - here's the quote:

It was wrong, and that's all there is to it... I like 15s as much as anyone, but let's not get rediculous about it... The absolute truth is, a ported 215 typically cannot hang with a ported 810 of similar quality - and to say otherwise is wrong...
FWIW, I own a pair of 215s, besides my 810 - so it's not like I'm hatin' on 'em or anything - just stating the facts...

It's loaded with Kappa LFAs, and really moves some air, also - it sounds so good, I'm thinking of sprucing it up a bit so that it kooks as good as it sounds: bedliner, a metal grill, recessed angle handles on the top/back, and glide rails for tilt and slide...
