this was exactly the thread I needed to see. Need a cab for my LMII and have been eyeing a GK Neo 115. Good to see a lot of folks use a single 115 for similar scenarios that I need it for

I use a 15 and it's great as long as I stand directly in its line of fire. 45 degrees to either side and the top end drops off. I'm happy with mine and work within its limitations, but no they don't necessarily rule.

Even though most good 15” speakers are louder than a smaller speaker - a single 115 isn’t real loud all by itself (louder than a 10 or 12) but still really not that loud, so I usually use a minimum of two 15s.

If I was tied to one cab and one cab only, I'd much prefer a 410.

And for those "bigger gigs" you mention, are those gigs still so small that a FOH isn't needed???

I think the comparison is better between boutique/DIY cabs with high end drivers versus mass produced cabs using middle of the road drivers. With a lot of commercial cabs the bottom dollar has a big part to play in the design. There are a lot of 115 cabs out there that cost less than a kick booty 3015 or Faital pro driver. Makes sense that you are buying a cab with less capability.

one can be enough for small bars - but, for most gigs I'd still want at least two 115s.

That's what I'm using. Great cab but you can't argue with the laws of physics - 15s don't have great dispersion.

Let the 15 handle those non directional frequencies, and let that mid driver do the upper registrar. It has great dispersion.

2 2x10's. together they weight the same as my 1x15 since the box for my 1x15 is so huge

One of my rigs is a Mesa Boogie Road Ready Diesel, 1-15, with an Ampeg PF-500. It sounds pretty good to me.
