Just in from NAMM

First of all, FC comes through as usual. I also wanna thank all of those who've posted pix. I never thought that I'd be saying this, because I LOVE ERB's. Hell, I once owned a 7 and plan to buy another one. I even got a 6 coming. That being said, that 12 and 11 string is a bit much. If you need THAT many strings, get a piano. Okay boys, flame away!!!! :hiding:

+1, FC is the bomb! Thanx Gaw!

As for the '12 and 11 string is a bit much' comment, bring that here:

Woodchuck, my shop just got in the latest Fender Frontline and there is a little pic of you and that P-bass with the bright green p/g. Cool to see TB'ers on the scene!

Thanks for the pics!

What were your impressions of the redwood 7 aesthetically and tonally?

I thought Scott was getting a 6 from Carey.....I'm assuming the 7 w/redwood is the bass that he got [Scott]. I will ask him as many questions as he will allow at our next lesson [Jan. 31st]. If i'm lucky-he'll play it during our lesson. Might be hard to NOT drool during the lesson though.

Definately dig the pics, thanks for taking them.

That's all

Hey Cam,

Scott was originally going for a SC6 but ended up with the NX7. I'm getting together with Scott when he arrives back so I can't wait to see that beauty in person! It's an incredible piece of luthiery that's for sure!

I can only imagine that jazz that's going to come out of that bass. :smug:

Too tired to caption stuff, but if you have any questions, just ask. Mike Pope, Dominique DiPiazza, and Oteil were smokin'! Those Epifani amps sounded great.

Hey funky,

How was stuff in the Nordstrand booth? Did you get to check out Adrian's new bass or the NX7?

I'm jealous anyway. . . but after seeing the pictures of Mike Pope, D. DiPiazza, and Oteil I'm insanely jealous!!! :bawl: Man, I wish I could have gone this year!

Thanks man, those pictures are awesome!

Is it a Monarch 5 Oteil is playing?
Great pics!

I suspect that's his custom Monarch 6. There are links to it on the Fodera site. . . I saw him play in Nashville a little over a year ago not too long after he got it. That thing was SLAMMIN!!! The tone was HUGE. Amazing show, Oteil is one of my favorites; nicest guy you'd ever want to meet too, very humble despite being a monster player.

Hi Gruuv,

I know that he has a Monarch 6 but the bass he is playing on the pics is only a 5 string. Maybe it is 5 version of his 6 with same specs.

Glad to do it. I had a lot of fun at the show this year, and it's always cool catching up with folks and saying hi. Meeting Lee Sklar was the highlight of my LIFE--he's my favourite player. Oh yeah, and the Manring pic. I hit the Zon booth at the end of the day and Michael had just finished playing. I was kinda bummed, so he started playing again just for me and the two Todds (Todd4ta and vanselus). He did a smokin' version of Teen Town. Just incredible.

Some other tidbits of info: the cool-looking semihollow fretless was by Jon Maghini of M Basses. Azola has a beautiful hollowbody bass too. Mesa's enclosures for the amps seem to be part of their new "Walkabout Classic" series. The Epifani 502 is AMAZING.

This was the end of the line for me, but I'm sure some other folks will be happy to provide you more info from the next couple of days.

Here are a few Benavente's from The Low End booth. I posted these, and more on AJ's site. I was in such a hurry to leave yesterday that I forgot my digital camera, so I had to buy a diposeable. But, I too got my picture taken with Lee Sklar, and I was totally stoked! He's an awesome guy :bassist:

Ah, Joel, I always look forward to your pics. Thanks so much.

That MTD fretless 6 with piezos looks soooooooo beautiful. I'm sure that it sounds even better.
I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. I will post some more later today after the show.

That MTD fretless is also a neck-thru, which Mike doesn't do a lot of. That bass was really, really impressive. We have a fretless MTD six on order already otherwise we would have gotten it.
