Just made 2 big purchases without telling my partner

Purchase #1

It's an ultra violet burst Combustion x3. Set me back a cool $2,385. Clocks in at JUST under 8 3/4 pounds, and they even offered to put the best strings for metal on it, free of charge. Now to see if I can learn to love the color.

I'll be honest, I've never played a maple neck, and I've always disliked them on sight. I'm curious.

Girlfriend can't really complain though. Not after...

Purchases #2

Weight on #2? Your choice if I'm asking about the ring or the girl. :D

This has got to be the most ironically timed thread I've ever seen! I'm literally purchasing a ring today myself!! My fiancee to be has an idea it's coming (just not where, when), and she apparently wants to spoil me with something because of this..

I'm a massive fan of Escape From NY, and she was originally gonna buy me a replica of Snake Plissken's life watch until we found out they were discontinued. After asking about possibly buying a bass for me instead, I expressed that I might be interested in Reverend Wattplower MK II. Though she scoffed at the price for a second, she happily suggested she would still be willing to spoil me with one. So yeah, looks like that's something I can hopefully look forward to soon. :D

What's the best engagement ring for metal?

I did this kinda backwards myself in '94. Got the "yes," got the ring, then found the Guild B-30 I'd been lusting after for months generously marked down as. if. the. universe. was. speaking. directly. to. me.

My fiancee to be has an idea it's coming (just not where, when), and she apparently wants to spoil me with something because of this.

Basically our story. She's already firmly in the 'Yes' camp, and even wanted to help pick and match the ring.

I don't really know this stuff, but apparently, it's 3 rings and they just solder them together at the bottom. I offered to solder it, but she asked how long my homemade pedals go on average without emergency maintenance, and I let that one drop.

Also, she wanted to spoil me. I told her I want a 'bentwood' ring, probably rosewood or smoked eucalyptus. Since that's only gonna be about 80 bucks for my ring, she asked if I wanted anything special, and I jokingly said a Dingwall. Wait, I hope she isn't gonna go secretly buy another dingwall combustion.

I better go tell her I want a A/ABZ/Z/Sklar.

Love love love the bass, color and maple neck. If you don't bond with it, I'll wait for the FOR Sale post! As for the fiance', you are on your own. After 30 years of wedded bliss, I just keep my head low and move in a serpentine manner.

By the way, she announced the other day that I have WAY TOOO MANY BASSES!!! I have 15, all different, all precious, all keepers. I told her that on Talk Bass, lots of folks have lots more. She said I was not married to Talk Bass. I'm not??????
