Just opened up my 210MBE...

Tom, you are a big boy now. You run a beautiful publication that's already ahead of the competition on the technical savvy side. So it's time to say DAMPING instead of DAMPENING. Dampening is when you spill beverages in you cab or your pet lifts its leg by the cab to ah you know ; }

Next thing I know budding piano players will think one of the brass things down on the floor is called a DAMPENING pedal. It's bad enough enduring OHMAGE every day.

Sorry, Dad. I'll try not to talk with my mouth full anymore, either. :hmm:

What I'm saying is that only a pee bass sounds good with those.

damp·en (dmpn)
v. damp·ened, damp·en·ing, damp·ens
v.tr.
1. To make damp.
2. To deaden, restrain, or depress: "trade moves . . . aimed at dampening protectionist pressures in Congress" (Christian Science Monitor).
3. To soundproof.

Actually Dampening is the "act of" doing somthing.

Damping is more like what you use to do it. (Using some "damping mat'l" inside tha cab.)

However..it can also be used if you are peeing on a rug... "Hey look, that bloke in the corner is dampening the rug".

Maybe I missed the original context of it tho.. :hmm:
Sometimes I'm that guy.

Just thought I'd chime in after lining my GK Neo 210.
I'm a GK guy, have been for years. I love my Neo 15 but was never happy with the 210 on top. Compared to the 15 the 210 had no texture or character. The tone was all boom and sizzle. After reading this thread I decided to line the inside with 1" foam. I cannot emphasize enough the improvement in tone. The low end boom is tamed, I can hear a bigger difference when I tweak the mids on my amp, and the tone is much more even. To my ears it also seems to have more punch but a bit less volume. I am extremely satisfied with the results. Thanks to all for the info!

Gee, do you think that means that 'EE types' might actually know what they're talking about? :hyper:
