Just opened up my 210MBE...

You can often find the poly batting at chain fabric stores like JO~ANN FABRICS - and hey - there's often a surprising number of young hotties browsing around in there too ; }

Ya know, as long as I've been around TB, I think that is the first time I've ever seen someone recommend J0-Ann Fabrics...:D
And +1 on some hotties walking around there sometimes!

Just thought I'd chime in after lining my GK Neo 210.
I'm a GK guy, have been for years. I love my Neo 15 but was never happy with the 210 on top. Compared to the 15 the 210 had no texture or character. The tone was all boom and sizzle. After reading this thread I decided to line the inside with 1" foam. I cannot emphasize enough the improvement in tone. The low end boom is tamed, I can hear a bigger difference when I tweak the mids on my amp, and the tone is much more even. To my ears it also seems to have more punch but a bit less volume. I am extremely satisfied with the results. Thanks to all for the info!

My brand new NEO 115-III's are unlined. They sound fantastic.

Nope. I love the way they sound. I see no reason to alter them.

And there you have it.......someone likes how it sounds with, and someone likes how it sound without.......
So I guess that settles the OP's question if it's a problem as to if they are lined or not.
It's NOT a problem if the tone they put out is one that you like.

I'll still trust the word of someone who has an extremely successful and very highly respected bass amp and cabinet company over some of the brain trust here on TB.

I still say the GK neo212 is one of the best cabs I've heard in a long time....
It could be lined with old Wham CD's and I wouldn't care as good as it sounds!

You obviously haven't been hanging out in the fEarful threads then... ;)

For the record, most of the 1 or 1/5 inch batting should be doubled over and spray glued into a thicker sheet for application (except if you're doing actual quilting instead of cab damping).

Yes, hottie factor at Jo Ann's a 10! Hey on my MB115 how much do you guys recommend me to install. I got the polyester stuff that looks like about 3/16 think. I am thinking all sides, but don't know how thick. The box isn't exactly boomy, but I would like to tighten the sound and punch. Thanks.

I strongly suggest using polyester batting as opposed to anything else. You can layer it to control how much you use, it's not going to make you sick from huffing it, and it's cheap. Definitely my favorite material for lining cabs.

I like the tone of my MB115, but I'm the kind of guy who likes to explore all options. I've decided to try lining my cab to see if I like the tone. ( if I dont like it, I'll just remove it ). I have the 1/2 inch carpet pad material at work. Are you guys lining the whole cab? All sides? Just the back wall maybe? Please detail.
