Just pulled the trigger on a Crown XLS 2000!

I'm thinking that any effects unit that has an OUTPUT that doubles as a headphones output,, has enough heat to fire those clip lites. The pandora needs to have the right settings and be cranked to come close to clip.

The compressor (Alesis 3630) could get close to clip when pushed, but had an audible click on intitial note strikes :(

The BDDI barely makes the -20 db light flicker.

I'd like my christmas tree to hover right between -20 and -10db lights, ocasionaly blinking that clip light on the bangingest parts. You guys ever use the Korg 3000B, Boss gt-6B or ME-50B, OR the Rocktron one, Line6 Floor POD anyone?

I gotta say again, feed your Crown a hot signal, and it will deliver. What I like so much about the Art Pro Channel is that even though the Crown's HPF only goes to 50 hz, I disable it, and use the Art's "low cut" to drop the signal anywhere from 12-200hz. Did I say it's got a HOT signal too?:D

I'm watchin one on the bay right now, it's about $85 I wish those had an input on the front. Hard to plug in cause it's in a 3u roto X . I think I would prefer a 2u to save on size. And that would eleminate a rackmounted PRE. :atoz: uuughh

This is kinda stressful figuring out how I want everything.

UPDATE:

:)
I'm very happy with finding great tones on my Pandora, and the Crown pushes the sound out like crazy. I'm pretty sure I have the levels I need to start working again. The cab (GK-SBX-410+) is alright sounding, it doesn't fart and is pretty smooth. It is not as all consuming as I'd like, the lows could be bigger? not sure if thats what I even mean,,,not "solid" enough? O well. I think an upgraded cab(s) would knock the whole rig into insano world where all would bow down to my amazing, full, room-filling, bass sounds.
:eyebrow:

I am happy with playing, and can hardly put it down, much less wait to try it out. I will buy another Pandora as a backup. One will stay in my bass case. The other will go in the 3u Roto shallow rack with the Crown XLS 2000, and all the cables to hook everything up. It is still under 20lbs!
:hyper:

Not happy that my current cabinet is 84lbs, but having all the electronics and cables in one small watertight rack case is great! Cabinet shopping will be next, man I got some reading/researching to do about lt wt cabs.
;)

:D
Thanx everone for your input,
I am happy with my Crown Power Amp, and would recomend these amps to anyone looking for light weight clean power.

Yes I do. Love it. Not sure of the difference to the Tube Channel. I'm hoping to love my Presonus soon. My Ampeg found a buyer and I'm going to pickup a Peavey IPR1600 to go with it. I've been dropping some serious weight lately.

ah.

I love that preamp! The range of tonal changes is incredible. A little change to one EQ has a rather profound affect. If I could get the same tones from a semi-parametric eq, I would prefer that for the simplicity. I'm getting the hang of it. I can't imagine there would be a room you couldn't adjust for. After I get really comfortable with it, I may swap the tubes, but for now it's all good.:bassist:

I just got an XLS2000 from rmcaudio.com for $350 shipped! Memorial Day sale, 30% off. They also got me my GK MB410 back when all the big stores kept having problems getting them in stock (leading to my backorders getting cancelled and other nonsense). I am not affiliated with them, but the guy I've always dealt with is Erik.

I was debating between the XLS1000 and XLS1500 just for the sake of having more power for later on if it needs to be repurposed as part of the PA rig. I only need the XLS1000, but I was going to probably go with the XLS1500 just in case (same size/weight). I increased my weight by a couple pounds, but $150 off was too good of a deal to pass when I saw this was one of their items on sale this weekend! May be out of stock now, not sure.

I thought about the RMC audio sale a lot and wound up going with the Drivecore 1500. It's around 2" shallower than the 2000 from what I can tell, which means more to me than a few watts. I wound up paying about 330 for my 1500 but only because of 25 bucks of 2-day shipping (Had a gig coming up and needed it on time).

I am super happy with the Drivecore. I wired myself up a bridging speakon cable and it's sounding great.

Downside is a need to add a hotter preamp after the VT deluxe - which can't quite drive it to my tastes.
