Justifications for buying a new bass

I just cancelled my order. Don't wanna pay $1000 for a 2015 that's been hanging in a GC for who knows how long.

Going to a local GC today and possibly picking up a MIM. Praying they have no black and maple American pros is stock... :).

I still would have gone for it, you never know. If Wayne an awesome bass and you could possible haggle for a few buck less. I'd take a NOS Am. Std. over a new American Professional any day. Actually would have done exactly that but found a used Road Worn Jazz for $625 last week so I jumped on that instead.

From reading your other post I noticed hat you mention you hate buying used. Why? If you know what you're looking at and can pick out nay issues, problems, gremlins, etc. you can really save some money on an awesome instrument. Some people though think if something has been sitting on the rack for a while, or is someone is selling something it automatically means that there is something wrong with it, and they get suspicious and only buy new, but keep in mind that people's tastes change, and GAS is a heck of an illness, which means plenty of people sell incredible instruments for no other reason than it's just not the one for them, they want something else and need the funds to buy it, have to pay bills, giving up the instrument and no longer play, etc.

"Just my GF"?
Maybe you need to be less curious.

She's been my SO and Vocalist for 9 years now; we work together very successfully here in Las Vegas, and her career doing session demos and commercial work is beginning to blow-up.

When/if we marry is nobody's biz but our own. No doubt we will, waiting to say our vows in Hawaii-when we feel like its the right time.

Couple things to add: Her voice is IMMENSE, and I've never heard a Funkier lady sing the material I arrange & choose: The Bar-Kays, The Isleys, James Brown- unreal. She makes just about all the "pop" vocalists look and sound stupid.

This, and her love of my buying basses, makes me really double-blessed. Sorry, it sounds like your marriage is a mishap, I can also tell you this: When we tie the knot- NOTHING will change-Bank it.

I was kidding. It was a "I feel like I've been married all my life" kinda joke. Hell, my wife is screaming at me right now for leaving the house without my cell phone... (right now. Seriously!).

I apologize if I offended you.

Buying a bass can be tough when you already own 3... or 15... or 25.

Collections are OK, just not for me. I have no rules about this. It's just the way I prefer it.

I'm currently on 2 basses, but as I only upgrade what I already have and sell the oldest one I don't have any of the issues that can arise with a wife and a "collection".

Anyway . . . she takes up more space in this house with her hobbies and interests so if I had 10 or 30 basses, no excuses needed, she'd be cool.

I never justify things I want. Why? If I want something bad enough I just buy it. Besides, if you're a professional player you can write it off your taxes. You either spend that money or the government takes it from you.

Just saved myself $600, and will be getting a brand new one of these:

As opposed to one of these that's been getting beat up on GC rack since 2015:

I think I made the wise decision.

For me.

Of course.

Paler neck is nicer. I believe that's just the photo and luck of the draw though.

Yes, it's MIM. Just heard some interesting facts regarding that too from an authorized Fender repair person. Not as much difference as some would have you believe.

My justification came down to, "I want it." Anything else would be BS at this point. I did however realize I'm getting another 8% back (that's 23% off total), so I'm confident it's a safe investment. Will be able to sell it for what I paid on Craigslist, should I ever choose to. It take a $50-$100 hit at worst. I also have a D-tuner I never used that will fit a MIM. It would have cost me another $70 for the MIA. And the D-tuner is essential.
