Justifications for buying a new bass

I need one for each room in the house and one at my office so I can practice all the time and learn faster.

This can easily be expanded to "I need a spare for each room".

My lamest excuse for buying another bass was:

I bought a BC Rich Warbeast, which came in the largest coffin case I've seen:

I'd previously owned a Warlock bass & I know this case was designed for those. Back when I had the Warlock bass, I could not find a case for it at a decent price.
So, I considered finding a Warlock bass to fit this case, LOL!

A year later I didn't have the case anymore, but a Warlock double Precision bass showed up in the local pawn shop. I was almost wishing I'd kept that case.
BTW, those cases are flimsy as, at least the two I've had were.

I'd be afraid to open it because Grampa Munster might be in it.

It's all about helping the brother- and sisterhood of bass players find ways around obstacles. As always, we are all here to help each other out, especially when it comes to rationalizing. Now, hold my beer...

Makes me wonder with CITES and all, if I had put off getting the rosewood Zdressy, maybe I'd have run into some problems.

As a non-gigging bedroom bassist I absolutely don't need more than my starter $100 bass.

I still end up with 3 more because back then I was moving to a place where good basses don't really exist. Guess I can't live without nice basses after all.

THOUGH.... some issues have arisen with this purchase :/. I ordered the bass 3 days ago and still haven't gotten a shipping notification - so I called. Long story short, they're giving me one off the wall in a GC that was discounted $100. They won't apply any further discount to that price though, so the price I paid for a "new" one isn't going to change (it was less than their price). Not cool, though I don't feel like starting yet another "I hate GC" thread. The guy in the store seems cool enough and they're working on getting me a better price without the case (which I really don't want).

If I don't like the bass I have 45 days to return it I'm told. With no questions asked. Hoping for the best.

If anyone hears of any black American Standard Jazz basses with maple necks going out at a really good price pls let me know quickly . I hate buying used, but buying off the rack at a GC IS buying used. The simple return policy is all that's keeping me on board. The bass could actually be a gem.

I'm blessed, too. That's why I can make a statement like "If I want a bass, I'll just buy a bass", because my wife also knows that I'm "thrifty" (cheap).

Anyway, I found some basses for you all in one place... Corner Music in Nashville. These guys are super. I've spent money there and will occasionally hang out for no reason. If you're interested, ask for J.D. he's the bass guy...

She's been my SO and Vocalist for 9 years now; we work together very successfully here in Las Vegas, and her career doing session demos and commercial work is beginning to blow-up.

When/if we marry is nobody's biz but our own. No doubt we will, waiting to say our vows in Hawaii-when we feel like its the right time.

Couple things to add: Her voice is IMMENSE, and I've never heard a Funkier lady sing the material I arrange & choose: The Bar-Kays, The Isleys, James Brown- unreal. She makes just about all the "pop" vocalists look and sound stupid.

This, and her love of my buying basses, makes me really double-blessed. Sorry, it sounds like your marriage is a mishap, I can also tell you this: When we tie the knot- NOTHING will change-Bank it.

For most people getting married does change things. Sometimes subtly, sometimes significantly. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. I was with my wife for 15 years before we got married. When we made the decision to "tie the knot" we were certain in our love and commitment to each other. What came unexpectedly was a change in the way we related to each other, and it was a change for the better - which I didn't think was possible. I'd go into detail, but I know I'm going way off topic here.

Perhaps later... got stuffs to do now that I should be doing. Considering cancelling my order, too. Might just get a MIM at MF and save $500. I have a thing about brand new instruments.

I understand the Marriage thing entirely. Have lots of friends etc Husband/Wife.
She's been suggesting marriage for years, I'm not ready yet. With kids, for sure, not interested in children yet either, (I'm still young).

Right now, the business relationship is paramount. Hardest thing is for me not to be a "C*** Block" in business dealings, because many Bookers want her to be their own! Ain't gonna happen- I tcb. I don't own her, but I am both MD and B/L and put the right players in the right pocket for her. She does the same w/her b/g Vocalists when we use them.

Her own career is hers alone, although I am there for and with her every step of the way.
The important thing is-We're REALLY Happy. Pretty extraordinary what we've accomplished, believe me.
It was not overnight, and it did not come easy.

I just cancelled my order. Don't wanna pay $1000 for a 2015 that's been hanging in a GC for who knows how long.

Going to a local GC today and possibly picking up a MIM. Praying they have no black and maple American pros is stock... .
