I'm considering a K & K Bass Max pickup; I have an Acoustic Image Ten2, Series III combo amp and also an original series AI head.

I will buy from here Gollihur, see

Do I need the preamp that's an option? I think not, since I think my AI head(s) handle the matchup well, just want to check before I order.

Thanks much.

I think the AI's direct out would do what I might ever need - that's how I've fed the house before with my setup. This is nothing fancy I have coming up - accompanying a middle school chorus in a small gym, might not even need to be amplified, "house system" is a PA designed for speaking, not music.

Appreciate the input, James, thanks.

When I still had my BassMax I did use the preamp, but the couple of times I had to go without it was fine. This was going into either an Eden Nemesis combo or my Ashdown head - I'd guess with the AI you'd be in much better shape :)
