Well, not so fast. I got my 2 sets of replacement strings (from Italy, mind you) in 3 days. Wow.
I just strung the bass up and these strings are way more stable and sound great. I'll let them settle a while and get back to you all.
Party ain't over yet. There's still a little left in the keg.![]()
Yeah, the tone was great to begin with, so I thought it would be worth pursuing. Day two and the strings are settling in better.
They are louder and more defined while keeping that killer woody acoustic sound and they feel less sticky. They also seem to be more durable than the stock strings.
I do agree that the black ones look better though, but these are cool to me as well.
Could you post a picture?
I Do think the game is not yet over when it comes to making the Best strings for this amazing bass. The stock strings are Good, but every time I play I think some wise company with good materials engineers can make them better.
If they could alter the elasticity in the material used for the strings, they Should be able to increase the mass for the D and G strings. I think achieving that could be Big.
Any difference in the thickness of these other strings?
I have been thinking of buying a fretted acoustic/electric UBass, but somebody warned me that the strings are so 'floppy' that they tend to slide up and down, and you have to take care to get consistent intonation by precisely holding them straight down. Any truth to this?
