No. You are just going to have to go out and sell your blood and buy one. :D

Coming from our brother who made some other thread comment about hanging dead bodies from the ceiling with velcro, or something like that. :D

Yeah due to that pesky detail called Lack Of Money, it will be a while, but the Fishman Pro EQ is definitely next on the acquisition list. Maybe I can pull it off for a combination Father's Day and Birthday gift. :bassist:

You have nothing extra around to sell off? You are a musician, surely there is something collecting dust.

Okay, here is my suggestion: when ever you crave to buy a beer, don't. Instead, put the money would have spent in a jar. When that jar reaches the price of a Pro-EQ, buy it. You may learn a few things along the way, like, how long you can go without hops and barley, and depending on how quickly you collect the money, how much hops and barley you've been ingesting. :)

Bbut, but, no hops and barley? :bawl:
And fizzy and delicious?

Sacrificing beer (good beer in my case, none of the fizzy yellow crap) is a lot to ask.

Play more gigs with more bands! That's how you pay for your GAS habits.

No yellow Budwizzer beer for me. Always quality micro brews.

I gig 2 - 3 times a month.

I Do need to play more, and I spend great energy finding additional bands to work at once, but ...
- It's easy to find a bunch of time wasters
- It's not so easy finding a productive, mature, responsible, fun bunch.

Sho nuff. Hard to get the right people.

I've found that the best way to handle it is just start your own group, hand pick the members, and make sure you like working with all of them. It also means that I have to do all the work: booking, marketing, networking, general management... but, when it comes to issues, I always have the final say and can make sure the group is what I want it to be, or I can get new people until it is.

I will say, that if anyone is trying to put something together in the rock, jazz, or blues genre, then I always recommend you check out your local blues or jazz jam. You always find good folks in those communities, who usually really know their sh*t.

(SORRY for diverting from the topic.) :hiding:

I'm re-stringing again today... I'll let you know how it goes!

Cuz if you try that with one of these:

I'm thinking somebody could get hurt. ;)

That's what I have. It works for E and A, as I said before, but doesn't have the strength for G and D. They grab, but just reduce them to a slow slip.

I'm trying the "stretch way past the post with pliers, and then have a second person seat it and just wind" method described by some here. No knots/loops to create a twist.

For whatever it is worth, my final tool of choice that worked - before switching over to The Light Side With Thunderguts - was
some small vise grips.

I sure hope Kala is reading this thread. Wouldn't it be great if the Pahoehoes were pre-stretched or broken in?

One of the big advantages of the Ubass is that guys like me with tendonitis can play an instrument with the least possibility of aggravating it.....except if I install a new set of strings. I know, I know, there's always the TGs.

I have been in contact with them a number of times. While they have read some posts I don't think they are reading regularly.

As far as pre stretching it is a good thought but one would expect it to be expensive. Otherwise we would see it for many types of strings.

IMHO the answer is - the mighty Thunderguts. :)
