Keep basses in case?

I live in Oklahoma, so guess where mine live when they're not being played?

In the storm cellar, perhaps?

I have four basses. My 1960 Kay short scale hollowbody is mercurial and the intonation gets messed up by even a couple days out of its case, so I must keep it in its case with a humidifier pack when not playing it.

My other three basses are Fenders, two fretless (P, J) and one fretted (Frankenstein PJ). The PJ and Fretless P are from the 70s. Do you think these instruments need to stay in their cases or can they just hang out in my living room? What do y’all do? I welcome advice.

Mine stay in cases unless being played. I don't leave them out.

On the rack for me. When you're surrounded by beauties, looking at them is almost as much fun as playing them.

You couldn't have said that any better! All 4 of my basses live in my bass stand. They only go in their cases if I'm taking them to the luthier or if I decide to sell them (which is not happening).

All my instruments stay in their cases, but at any point in time there is usually one bass and one guitar out, ready to play.

All of mine on stands, no direct sunlight or humidity swings but covered in black bed sheets to keep the dust off, never had any problems.

All my basses stay in their cases unless I'm playing one of them. I take two to practice that will stay out on stands for the duration of practice but that's it

I have one large case for all my basses, and I call it house.

Except for my "practice bass", which stays on a Hercules stand in my music room, they stay in their cases until at the gig.

At home and on gigs, all my basses are in gig bags when they are not being played. It's safer that way.

Some people like to have them on display, but, to me, they are tools for making music so I don't display them.

I keep mine in cases, except for one or two that I can grab anytime. I have two cats, and they can sometimes get rambunctious. They’re not deliberately destructive, but they just get running around and playing.

Mostly in cases, with a couple that have no cases kept on stands. For transport it's usually gig bags as they are easier. My main problem is that I have run out of storage space. This along with the decline of pawn shop finds since the beginning of Covid has seriously curtailed my GAS.

My inventory is 20 basses & 41 guitars .

I generally keep a combination of 3 that are being played daily on stands.

The others are in gig bags or hard cases.

I also have a 7 space instrument rack I fill & use on occasion.

My bass is not made of wood, so it doesn’t have the same considerations, as they pertain to humidity and temperature, and, since I live alone, I don’t have to worry about kids or pets destroying it. I keep it out, on a stand.

My Fender is nice and cozy in its case but on weekends when I'm home I do tend to leave it out.

They're on a stand.
I'm always playing to relax, compose, record, or practice.
Cases are for travel.
