Keith Richards...On Bass!

So the venerable Mister Richards just posted on his facebook page, indicating new music on the horizon, with this photo...
Looking forward to whatever it is he's planning, especially if he's on bass for it!

Over the years Keith has often played the bass lines to some of the Stones most notable tracks on their recordings. If I'm not mistaken Jumpin Jack Flash is Keith. I can remember reading an interview with Darryl Jones talking about recreating classic Stones basslines and he discussed the differences in Keith's approach as opposed to Bill Wymans. His bass playing is supposedly all over Exile on Main St.

He also plays bass on "Live with me" Fender Precision:

He's a great bass player, so is Ron Wood, check out Beckola Jeff Beck Group, it's Ron Wood on bass on the album.

Ron Wood bass, he gets a great sound, check out especially the end at about the 3 minute mark. 1968 Fender Telecaster with Rotosounds, he used Marshall Majors back then, don't know what he played through here.

His autobiography 'LIFE' is a must-read, and I've always gotten quiet satisfaction that the old swaggering pirate has been clean for years and is a very happily married man of long standing with a beautiful family, maybe not what the ill-informed would expect. And I always think he and Mick are two halves of one man.

I have it but haven't read it yet. He lives in Connecticut, sometime when I'm back in Mass, I'd like to drive out and see how close I can get to his house.

And suddenly, with just one photo, the general public now believes that bass is cool.
