I used to own this one. BSR6MW. Great Bolt On....Had a tiger maple front and back with a walnut center, 3 piece maple neck and pau ferro fingerboard, 9 V electronics. Really tight and funky sound. I miss her....

After I got on my current regimen of sanity preservation drugs (the absence of which resulted in my letting go of the just mentioned Smith 6), I stumbled upon this one for only $100 more than I sold the other one for. It's a BSR 6 Elite G. 5 piece body wings of Walnut (front & back) with a Maple layer on both sides of a Mahogany core, 5 piece neck of Maple and Morado, Matching Headstock, Gloss finish, and the 9 V Electronics Package. This bass was made in 97. The Bolt on was made in 2000, so while I now have an older bass, it is significanly "up there" on the degree of fine-ness scale. Both basses, especially the bolt on, play like country buttah!! I don't know HOW ken smith does it.

I just got this bad boy, a 1995 BT5G:

Now, I'm not a 6 string player, so I'm not sure how long I will keep it, but if/when I move it, a BT5G WILL replace it! But as the days pass, I'm thinking "I can play a 6!!" :D
Actually I was looking for a Smith 5 when I came across this one. I got a GREAT price and will make a few bucks if it goes.
I'll get some better pix of it when I get back in town. These don't do it justice, the top is pretty "deep" looking.

This is SCHWEET!! (Did you mean BT6??) I love that top.... what's the back and what's the core? I can't say that I'm too drawn to the old BT shape, but I KNOW this plays good. It just says "I play good. You will like me." And is that an Ebony Fingerboard? It looks like Morado or Pau Ferro (which I hear are th same thing.... heck I don't know.)

holy mother...

And there might be a Whappo Jr. in the works. I'm hoping the seller will let me come do an A/B comparison with my pair of Epi 112 NYC's. A recent comparison with a Epi 112 and a AG Tri 112 L didn't go too well and I didn't do the deal. We'll see if the Whappo Jr. does a little better.

Also disappointing was a trial with a Bill Dickens 212. I'm not sure why I can't catch the AG wave.... they just haven't made me want to buy the farm. Milk tests have got to get better... maybe with the 737, I'll see and hear a difference.

Think so?

i hear ya,

i tried to REALLY like my Accu 112, but for some reason i just wasnt hearing what i wanted.

Well good, I don't feel bad. Generally, I get good advice from the TB crowd on what's good gear, and "other".... there is no bad gear.... One man's Hondo is another's Fodera.... but I just can't get with the AG thing. Glad to know that I'm not the only one.

OOPS!!! Yes I ment to type BT6!!!
Specs are:
Top & Back- quilted maple, Core- Mahogny, Fingerboard- Rosewood.
And yes it screams "play me 'cause I'm very playable!"
Now only if I can adapt to a 6!!!! It's outta my box a bit.
