Kid Catches Flak for Choosing an HBCU

K, that explains a lot. You need to do some looking into universities like FAMU, BCC, Morehouse, Howard, etc. Those are the 4 I can think of off the top of my head. Do that, and you'll have a better appreciation for the black colleges and realize how out of place your comments here are.

You're attacking Cheese for saying things that are correct and reading far too much into his replies. Yea, he has a history of posting conspicuously similar threads which all seem to be pushing an agenda, but this one genuinely isn't one of them. I do agree with you that this story is, or should be a non-issue though.

Also just an fyi. This whole "This world is so awful, I hate it and wish I could leave" schpiel is old, tired, angsty, and played out. You don't have a choice what world you live in, so make the best outta this one.

damn. you talk about me being attacking, and look at you.

I said very clearly in my second post that i didn't want to be misunderstood. That i didn't understand what was going on, and clearly asked for it to be explained. Now you're saying that i attacked him? Jeeze.

Sounds like you need to do of your own advice, too. I'm out, i know how to drop things at the appropriate time.

You act as if a HBCU is in itself a negative thing. Do you feel that way about historically white schools? My point is that "race" seems to never be noticed unless the race is not white. White is so often seen as the default or natural state, and others are aberrations.

i don't even know what a HBCU is! Can you please state it for me in clear idiot's terms?

No, it isn't negative. He can go to an eskimo school for all i care. As I said, many people go to many schools for many reasons. He can go to whatever "HBCU" that he wants because the pizza in the cafeteria is pizza hut every other wednesday for all i care, i still don't see it as an issue.

is there such a thing as an historically "educationalist" school? cause that's where i want to go when i finally get out of what i'm in and can get back to my education. As i said in the post above, i'm done here.

It seems that i dived in way to deep into a drawn out race discussion that started well before i started reading, and i'm not knowledgable enough to give any amount of info. I'll stay in my little, drastically decreasing, bubble of "race doesn't matter" and let the world go to hell around me.

Buh-bye

Sorry, it's late and I'm grumpy, but you're seriously out of place with your "Why should my education matter based on my skin color?" comments since that's not at all what Cheese was getting at.

Also, again the whole world going to hell thing is just played out brother. Life's far too short to go on focusing on the ****** aspects of life.

Also a lot of the HBCUs are very well respected academically across the nation (Morehouse in particular) and provide a great education. The HBCU distinction comes primarily from the social aspects of the school which are catered more toward black culture than white or mixed cultures.
