I might be up for that, Ryan! I've got a little pickup odyssey to get through first, though. I'm sure the Bardens will go back in before it's all over, for comparison if nothing else. And they did win out in the end last time I did this, so that could happen again...

Ah, I've been running the UBER-115 in my rig full range since the GA GTG... I just put it back to acting as a sub (150 Hz and below), and my rig is sounding MUCH better now. I can actually get some push down low now...

I still think I'm on the prowl for another cab solution, but at least I'm not living with bad tone at this point...

I plugged King Koa w/ Barts and my outboard electronics into a Berg NV-610 this morning... whew, it's got the sound down low that I'm after, that's for sure. It's a bit barky in the upper mids, but I'm hoping a tweeter might help smooth that out... if not, I'll still be on the prowl for a cab solution...

I'll put it somewhere up high, I want it closer to my ear than my ankles. I'll work that out once the parts get here. Hopefully sometime next week...

Jim's suggestion was to wire it all up and give it a listen before drilling any holes... goes without saying, he's a smart dude. He understands his customer's insanity (that's me!).

Sweet Jeebus, this things sounds AMAZING with a tweeter!!! The lunatic has found something to ease his troubled mind!

The 610 comes with an unpopulated crossover board installed. Jim sent me a populated crossover board, the tweeter and the tweeter level adjuster doo-hicky (sorry to get all technical on youse)...

Here's the stock/unpopulated crossover board dangling out the back...

After swapping crossover boards, I just set the tweeter on top to hear what it sounds like... did I mention it sounds GREAT?!?!?

So the soldering part is done, now onto the drilling... YIKES - the point of no return!!

Here's a first! A Bergantino NV-610 cab with a tweeter level control!

This was actually really easy to install. There was a dab of epoxy or caulk covering the hole inside the jackplate to make it airtight. I used a chisel to scrape that off (you can see what I removed sitting to the left of the handle on top of the cab in the photo below). Then I drilled through the sticker on the back/outside of the jackplate to allow the shaft of the tweeter control to get through the jackplate... 8 screws later and BOOM! Back to airtight!

Now onto the front of the cab to install the tweeter itself!

Roadblock #1 encountered and overcome. The tweeter was just a hair too large to fit anywhere on the baffle board. A grinder and a little courage to knock one of the corners off, and we're good to go!

Here's what really took some balls. Perfectly good $1299 brand new cabinet? Meet 3.5" hole saw.

I'm so glad I've owned a music store these past 3-4 years... I never would have had the courage to do something like this before. Now, it's no big deal.

Nothing left to do but wire the tweeter and button it all back up!
