Kiss is so awful

I love that movie.
I actually didn't get into Kiss until God gave rock and roll to you. Then I back tracked and listened to all the other stuff.
I had the chance to hang out with Gene on several occasions and I thinks he's A-OK. In fact, he's a bit of a mensch, to lapse into Yiddish, as Gene himself if wont to do.

I always liked KISS, yes Gene and the whole band had some influence on me (go figure!), I had started playing the bass just a year or so before becoming aware of them. Gene wasn't responsible for me wanting to play the bass but he sure helped keep me interested! I saw them at Seattle's Paramount theater with Rush opening the show, I was about 8-10 rows back from the stage, being young, stupid and seemingly indestructible I wore no ear protection - My ears rang for days after that show.........
My friend's mom was a rabid Sinatra fan and had the chance to approach Frankie in a parking lot. He was flanked by two guards and my friend's mom managed to position herself in his path such that he came to a stop, at which point she launched into the typical, halting voice of a subservient fan: "Mr. Sinatra, I hate to trouble you but as you are my all time idol in entertainment and have brought me so much joy I just had to take this opportunity..." When she concluded her spiel, Sinatra simply looked at her wordlessly and flared his nostrils in distaste. Then he nodded at the men flanking him and the trio walked off.
That's the worst "don't meet your hero" story I've heard firsthand...
My broke cousin the card player took a glass vase into GOLD AND SILVER PAWN for some quick cash.
Cuz is blind in one eye and accidentally knocked something on the counter (no damage) and the appraiser flipped out
and told him to take his crap and leave. It wasn't a PAWN STARS cast member, nevertheless that soured cuz on the show, and
thus qualifies for a "don't meet your hero" hashtag.
(also explains the origins of my current avatar, in that I come to bury Chumlee, and not to praise him).

I only felt snubbed by Tia Carrere, but it had more to do with the guy she was with.

Tia Carrere danced for me and me alone for two stellar minutes in a really tiny office some twenty years ago to the accompaniment of a boom
box playing the lead single from her forthcoming debut CD album. It was a fleeting but memorable thrill.
I was in a band that played "Hard Luck Woman". Actually a fun tune. Pretty much the extent of my KISStory.
She was absolutely beautiful, in the most fresh and unadorned and natural kind of way.... Like a surfer girl washed ashore on a sun kissed wave in Hawaii.

I was never much of a KISS fan. But some of my musician friends are. Also, I usually agree with much of what Gene Simmons says. I have no desire to say anything negative about KISS.

one of the first bands i liked. but it is hard to keep that show after 40 years or so.
Destroyer and Ace's solo, and a few other songs are still great, i respect them for those.
straight forward rock'n'roll, good singing (Paul does it!), very accessible music, theatrical stage performance
they were very conscious of what to do.
but i haven't bothered to listen seriously to their stuff since 'lick it up'
