KKK Style Hat

I really dont know what all the FTW's and such are, though I can guess a couple, but they seem to be a lot of the confusion. If someone would clarify I would be grateful. Those misunderstandings make it easy for these kinds of threads to go off the tracks on accident.

ftw is "for the win," as if something is the best, smartest, sexiest or whateverest

wt* is "what the ****?" as in...well, you know. what the ****?

If we had a black republican president, do you guys think his opposition would be allowed to be painted with such a broad brush? Some pretty terrible statements and cartoons were made about Condoleeza Ricewhile she was in the white house that I don't think would tolerated if aimed at a black democrat.

The stereotype that most republicans are racist and blinded by religion is just as silly as the notion that most democrats are babykillers and communists. As a political independent I have no axe to grind here. I have agreements and disagreements with both sides. Each side is made up of about the ratio of normal vs. nutjob as the rest of society and should be considered just as suspect as the general poulation.

Politics totally aside, more than a few cartoons, and signs, as well as comments about the current president are clearly racial. Does that mean that all who dislike him have a racial agenda? No, anyone old enough to remember Clinton knows that this country has a pretty nasty rift between right and left, but that does not mean that there is not an easily discerned racial element in the critique of Obama.

As for reaction against a Republican black presdent, no one wil know until it happens. No one can prove a negative.

...by a segment so small and insignificant it should be labeled "fringe" in my estimation. No political commentary (indeed, no commentary in general) can possibly be taken seriously coming from someone with an overt racist or biased outlook. I believe that to be the view of the vast majority in this country.

All the reputable, informed political commentary I hear criticizing our president, in the media and on the street, has everything to do with his policies and choices, and nothing more.

That same "fringe" used to refer to Bush II as a dumb, redneck, warmongering, black-hating (Kanye), honky Texan. Every president gets it from the fringe.
