Klos Basses-Carbon necks

They're running a pre-order deal on necks right now. I'm all set in the bass department for now, but I have a cheap Tele copy that I never loved the neck on, so I ordered a Tele neck. We'll see how that experience goes.

FWIW I paid a deposit on their website then received a link to a questionnaire about the neck and the guitar it will be going on. It was unexpected, but maybe it shows that they want to ensure you ordered the right thing.

I have the KLOS Apollo bass and the neck is very nice - comfortable shape, no neck dive, smooth glossy finish. I held the strat neck at NAMM and they are able to make a shallower profile due to the strength of CF. The neck is incredibly light. At first I thought the gloss neck would cause issues, but it does not get sticky and gummy because I think its actually the resin.

Just got my Klos Apollo,(non-pro) and I have to say, I'm impressed. Well constructed from a build and QC standpoint. Neck is, as expected, dead-straight and frets are dead-level. I was able to get the action down as low as my big-dollar boutiques. I love the neck shape. Pretty thin front to back with a gentle taper (doesn't get too fat approaching the body). Good tone as well. Well worth the $ even at full price IMHO (I got a bit off the price with a promo they recently had). Good product for certain!

Just wanted to give a heads up/reminder that KLOS is still doing pre-order deposits for their Fender replacement necks. I have zero affiliation with them whatsoever, but I have been in contact with them asking some questions along the way and just put my deposit down today. I'm a gigantic fan of CF necks, and having met all the great people who run KLOS who let me demo their basses and talk shop for far longer than I would have ever allowed myself to do, I can without a doubt know that it is going to be a super high quality product.

I gave them my input at the last NAMM Show in April and that’s when they started talking about the Fender spec’d replacement necks…and here we are! Their volume sales I’m fairly certain are in the other instruments they make, so having the time to R&D something new while also pumping out their primary is likely a fine balance. Plus, they know it’s going to have to be something to produce in a higher quantity to keep stock around for dealers, etc. I can’t imagine setting that up is cheap or an easy task!

I would like to get a carbon fiber neck to do something like a Daryl Jennifer Jazz Bass copy. Also because I love CF necks, but the fact that they have already said because of the strength to weight ratio they can make more shallow necks, I'm completely out. I've seen this with the aluminum neck suppliers as well. The impression I got from a thread question here recently is that very few if any people like shallow neck profiles. I am absolutely one who does not want that. I don't mind thin, but I do mind thin front to back. It is so uncomfortable and I don't have large hands. A deal breaker for me.

I pre ordered a couple necks more than 6 months ago. Given the latest communication replacement fender necks will arrive about a year after order. I guess they are having some difficulty and focusing more on new guitar products instead. Every time I ask, it’s three months away. They seem busy and overwhelmed.

My G. Gould basses have very shallow profiles and are absolutely the best I've ever played, especially on my 4 string. KLOS' necks on their Apollo basses are very comparable in profile and overall feel.

I asked them if they had an idea what the thickness might be for the replacement necks, and the response was that they were going to stick to as close to Fender specs as possible. Without asking for further clarification, that unfortunately leaves it up for interpretation since Fender specs could mean many things depending on which one of their basses they are comparing to.

Few things to note since I'm filling out their spec sheet -

1. I received an email that says March 2024 for delivery, but on the spec sheet is says it might be July.

2. You have two neck radius options - default is 11", and there is a $100 upgrade for compound 9.5-12"

3. There are three bolt pattern options - 4 bolt rectangle, 4 bolt offset, and 5 bolt offset.

4. An option for custom string spacing at the nut

From what I'm gathering with all of this is that they are really trying hard to get this all set up to be ready to go. I'm really not going to complain much considering we basically have no other option in the United States for aftermarket CF necks.

Their guitar necks are popping up in the wild now and I've talked to someone who has one and they are extremely satisfied. Once they're ready to get the bass necks out I think everyone is going to be very happy with the end product.

Yup! I got a Tele neck from them. It totally transformed the guitar it's on.

Hey Guys,


Just a heads up, I’m working with Klos on the 5 strings and they are in process now.

If you like the Mike Lull Profile but with a slightly slimmer nut you will like this.

Very balanced, refined and comfortable to play all night.

You nailed it, it’s a light U and even tapered.
